Do you think these new "luxury" lines will work?

Effy? Those higher priced lines Shaun is selling on her new style show? It seems QVC is going all out or will die trying. Companies normally will not ship to a company in trouble, yet I don't see any lack of product in the best selling lines.

@depglass No idea, but I do know that in the biggest mall near my home, pretty much the only stores still functioning are the upscale ones - they seem to be doing well.

And do keep in mind that Costco offers plenty of very high-priced items along with the less expensive bargains.

These new "high end" items are just simply overpriced over already overpriced items. I am not impressed by all the talk of luxury, "Madison Avenue", and all that nonsense. GIve me a really good deal/sale good quality and I am happy. So that means I will NOT be buying clothing on Q unless I get a really good deal.

Brands like Effy have a strong cult following. There are many people who collect this high fashion brand of jewelry.

I would think QVC already has customers/ collectors for this line and will pick up newer probably younger customers.

I think the line will do well on QVC. QVC needs to offer something new and exciting, not stale stuff.

They are striking while the iron's hot.

EFFY is new to QVC but it's been on other shopping channels for years. The shopping channel EFFY isn't the same as the exclusive luxury EFFY. I think some of you don't really understand how huge QVC is. I think QVC is rethinking it's strategy and it's long over due. 20 years overdue. I know many want to Qvc take it's last breath and cease to exist but that's just not going to happen. Like Amazon, QVC is too big to fail. Even Shophq survived. EFFY previously sold on Shophq but apparently has partnered with QVC where there are many more customers. I have noticed many more upscale brands on QVC and I think the plan is pursue customers who already know those brands and can easily afford the prices and like the convenience of a shopping channel. QVC can't survive off people grumble over $70 for a tee shirts or proudly say they watch but never buy anything.

I have to admit Shawn's new show is the only complete hour I watch QVC. I like to see what's new other than a sweatshirt and sweatpants ( not to say I don't wear those too). I am willing to spend the money on what QVC offers on their higher end products.

I have noticed the website sells used high end bags, but can't remember the brands. They are along the lines of Louis Vit and Gucci.
I thought it was odd.

You are 100% correct!

However, QVC customers do not know that and the Q is notarious for fooling the customer. Seems like a wise move on QVC's part to begin selling items available in Dillards, NM, Saks, and others that carry those well appointed lines.

The sparkle is tempting; the shine & flash are luring; a good salesperson can make it yours with easy-payments!* And, the profit is incredible for QVC.

*Not a fan of any payment plan ever.

"Luxury" brands don't impress me and I have never wanted them. So an easy pass. I could never afford them in the first place and am not missing them now.

And if it's a "Special Item Made Just for Our QVC Customer"....sometimes I wonder if they buy up runs made with mistakes.

And who cares what color a vacuum is ?They rave about the pretty twenty five or more colors of vacuums, dust rags, sponges, toilet bowl brushes, hand held steamers to clean gunk out from under the toilet seat or the filthy grout in the once-a-year-washed shower stall...(at least that's what the demos look like!!!!)

I have a color theme in my home and I like my things to match. Yes, even my cleaning tools. It is so important to me that I was gifted a $400 Blend Tech a few years ago and the color didn't go with my theme so I gave it away and bought the exact model in my color theme. It doesn't even sit on the counter. But everything matches in my home.

It is an aesthetic and I think it makes my home look more coordinated and appealing.

Add me to the list. I don't own one piece of Graver, Denim and Co, or any of the other cheap stuff they sell, I don't buy clothes at Sam’s Club or Costco. I loved the Szish list when Katrina had that show. She featured rarely shown, higher-end products and I bought a lot. Her taste was impeccable.

My house has cupboards and closets in which to place cleaning tools when not in use....I don't want to see them at ANY time I'm not using them!!...and I sure don't leave this stuff out when guests come over...!!!

Although I DID have a distant relative once scold me soundly because my 800 dollar Dyson, which they caught a glimpse of when they hung their coat in the closet, was NOT the Corny-Color-Name-Du -Jour that Q sells!!! (S/)!!!

Actually I DO care about a color....GREEN. I buy what does the job, at the best cost, and that's it!!! ESPECIALLY Things that no one sees!!

Don't over-buy show off names, brands, or bizarre colors that they will change anyway, by next months "improved" version of the same product!!! ( " The cord is one foot longer!!!!" they will gush...while showing a corded version of the cordless one they hawked as being the best on earth last month!!!).

Don't get me wrong....I LOVE QVC and HSN and have been soundly convinced for DECADES to buy....stuff I mostly don't need!!!

Now....again I ask...WHAT luxury items does QVC sell that I can NOT buy on A or Walmart or, eventually, Big Lots?!?!?!?!?

Anyone?

Guess I'm in the "heard that, done that" camp!!!!!

I have a friend who pretty much only shops at high end department stores. She can afford it and I do not begrudge her for it. When I go with her to the mall I just keep my mouth shut as she shells out money for high end fashions, accessories, etc. I can not afford to but probably wouldn't even if I could afford it. Each to his own.

I agree with you. @Othereeeen The vast array of colors available “only” at QVC tells the story. They aren’t available from major retailers because they won't waste valuable warehouse space housing them.

QVC has a specific customer base. That is why they are struggling right now. That base isn't substantial enough to keep them afloat.

I don’t know one person that coordinates bowls, vacuum cleaners, hair tools etc. with the same color palette.

If you happen to like that then QVC is your place to shop.

Same here. Although I realized long ago I was not the target audience for such items.

Yesterday, I was driving a truckload of cardboard boxes to our recycle center in my 1987 Ford Ranger.

However, I did have my Coach wild stawberry print bag with me...does that count?

I'm happy if people are finding things they want. Even though I no longer watch, I don't want QVC or HSN to go under.
