"Preparing your order" versus "In Process"????

So, seriously, what is the difference? Do they have to prepare something before they can process it? I ordered two jewelry items and a handbag on Saturday. It's Monday, of course neither has shipped, but now there are two different terms for "you can't cancel but we haven't actually done anything to get it to you". Frustrating.

On the other hand, I ordered something from Lands End on Saturday, it shipped on SATURDAY and I should have it tomorrow. There are obviously products from the Q that I want, and I know that for some reason after all these years they haven't figured out this shipping thing. But, just tell us what the status is!

@Catstamper "In process" happens before "preparing order." Either can take longer than one might expect! But shipping typically does happen "fairly soon" after you are informed that they are preparing your order.

My advice is don't order anything you're not prepared to wait for.

Some items come from one of the warehouses and others are shipped directly from vendors. That's why they can't be like vertical retailers like Lands End who manufacture and sell their own goods exclusively.

@Catstamper - "In Process" is the first status that is automatically applied to your order as soon as you place it. Depending on which entity is fulfilling the order and their speed of shipment and accuracy in updating the system, it could stay in that status for awhile or transition pretty quickly to the next stage, "Preparing Your Order." In some cases, that second status may show even after an item has shipped; I've definitely had a few instances in which an item was delivered while it was still listed as being prepared.

But with QVC's new system, you're sure to get three or four emails alerting you to the progress of your order when it is officially on its way to you: one when it ships, one when it's "coming soon" (sometimes this one doesn't happen if the shipping process is quick), one when it's "coming today," and one when it has been delivered. At least for me, most shipping has been relatively prompt lately, so hopefully your items will be at your doorstep soon.

All this does is eliminate the possibility of your canceling your order. It's just another tactic to eliminate "buyer's remorse. Don't like it
