Two really uncomfortable phone calls on this morning's Denim & Co. show

Both Gary and Leah looked dumbfounded.

They both handled the calls with Grace but really the expressions on their faces were priceless.

The screeners have to do better.

@Linda0215 It was very cringey and embarrassing for both Gary and Leah. What a rude caller! Then she tried to sound like a nice person by complimenting them at the end of the call, sounding proud of herself. She knew exactly what she was doing.

Very tacky!

Is she okay? I haven't seen her for a long time! Poor Gary. It took him by surprise, but he handled it well. He just said, oh yes, she's fine, etc. He didn't say that she was no longer with QVC. I think both he and Leah were like, WHAT??!!! LOL!

I wish they'd do away with the testimonial calls. They are ALWAYS CRINGEWORTHY. I can't stand them. I'm always low key embarrassed. Every. Single. Time. I don't know how the hosts can stand them either.

I'm surprised that they were surprised.

If they're going to take live calls during Denim and Co. shows management should have realized that this topic inevitably would pop up.

I certainly would not label the caller an "idiot." Prepared responses should be made.

Gary said that she's doing something else now and she's fine. The woman was satisfied with that.

Not everyone is in on the latest gossip and goings-on at QVC. There are occasional viewers who don't watch regularily and could easily not know about the lay-offs. Give the lady a break.

I think it's a fair question, especially if this woman doesn't keep up on all the latest from QVC. She was expressing concern, that's all

I'm sure the hosts are instructed in advance on how to deal with questions about hosts that have been let go.

@Kachina624 I'll have to disagree with you on this one. Anyone with an ounce of sense and decorum would not try to put people in such an uncomfortable position, even if she didn't know about the layoffs.

What was she hoping they would say on live TV? If she truly didn't know, she could have asked the phone screeners offline -- not that they should have told her anything but "Carolyn no longer works at QVC."

The subject should have been expected to come up sooner or later, especially on the Denim and Co. shows.

I'm sure that made them both uncomfortable and everyone doesn't follow every move QVC makes. Millions of customers don't know where Caroline disappeared to. They don't screen those calls. They ask your name and then they put you on hold until the producers puts the call through. Layoffs are a part of life out here in the real world. I always hated those dumb calls even though back in the day, I was the caller who said stupid things.

The presenters, whether the vender or the host, should easily be able to field any type of call.

Shame on them for any weird expression or hesitation. These are salespeople trained to be spontaneous.

I did not see or hear what happened, however, I put the onus on the Q. It should not have appeared awkward.
