I've always had a dell but few yrs ago they slacked off - - didn't advance their product to future designs. HP forged forward in technology.

Don't know dell standing at present time. My dell is old and still working very well.

My recent laptop purchase in March from Best Buy was a Dell and they actually had a sample in the store. Im very happy with it and have had friends with BAD experiences with HP.....

What happened is Dell decided to emphasize direct purchase with customers rather than supplying in-store stock which resulted in-store sales in hundreds rather than thousands, with customers chosing to purchase a brand available in-store brand like HP, Toshiba, Acer.

Dell found renewed success by expanding further into servers, networking, and infrastructure, Dell was able to offset losses from the PC side of the business. Thanks to the acquisition of companies such as SecureWorks, VirtuStream, Wyse, and SonicWall, Dell was able to build the perfect IT ecosystem for both home computing and cloud computing. Some of the most important acquisitions we have listed below.

EMC Corporation – Cloud Computing

Dell acquired EMC corporation in 2016 for $67 billion, bringing with it a massive upgrade to Dell’s servers and infrastructure. The EMC acquisition also came with a massive stake in the cloud computing giant, VMware.

Alienware – Gaming Computers

Alienware was another brand that Dell leveraged to take back market share in the home user sector. Since being acquired by Dell, Alienware computers have become some of the world’s most popular gaming laptops and desktops. What I gather from a quick read of legal jargon is that there was an agreement that if sales met or exceeded set goals, the agreement between the two would auto-update each year on, get this, April 1. However "On September 12, 2006, Defendants sent a purported notice of termination of the Agreement to Plaintiff. Defendants have taken the position that the Agreement is terminated as of September 12, 2006 and have refused to further perform under the Agreement. In addition, Defendants have stated their intention to promote and endorse the Products by means of Electronic Media in violation of the non-competition provisions of the Agreement."

I have used Dell desktops since 1994. Not one hardware problem except one keyboard and one mouse. Both were over 6 years old.

I only buy from Dell directly around Black Friday because of good sales. They also gave me 2 years of tech support instead of one.

I have no idea why Dell isn't offered anymore, but as far as I'm concerned it's QVC's loss, but I wouldn't buy a computer from QVC or any other retailer except from the manufacturer directly.

Retailers add too much other software as incentives to buy that can cause problems. I like to keep it simple.

My first two computers were Dell and I had no problems. It was time for me to purchase a new computer and QVC was having a HP TSV. I spoke with an IT person at my job and he encouraged me to purchase HP. I have never had so many problems with a computer.

When I finally got rid of the lemon (HP) I returned to Dell. So far no problems and I have had this latest one over five years. Once, my current computer starts showing signs of age. I will purchase again from Dell, and buy directly from the manufacturer.

My Dell laptop is only a few months old and it has been a nightmare. I bought it at Best Buy. It's already been to Dallas for warranty repair once and I will probably return it again. Technical support personnel in India try very hard to be helpful but are often difficult to understand.

I won't buy another Dell anything. I was not impressed with their customer service, either.

I've had my HP laptop and HP printer for a couple years now, and they run smoothly. Knock on wood.

I have a HP and will NEVER buy another HP. I hated it from the first day, and when I can get rid of it, I'll buy a Dell. I had a Dell before this HP and loved it, never a problem for years. I wish the Q would offer both.

I would never buy Dell from Q (or pretty much any electronics). I found that most are prior models rather than the most current. In addition, prices are usually less elsewhere.

I used Dell for maaaaany years. They never lasted more than 3-4 years. I made the jump to Apple MacBook Pro in 2013 and never looked back. It still functions like new. I can't imagine going back to Windows.

I just bought a new Dell laptop - old one (from QVC) was almost 15 yrs old. I have a Dell desktop too - it was hubby's.

I bought an HP from QVC for my grandson about 5 yrs ago - after two repairs within a year I got a partial refund from HP. Never again.

Just my two cents: I've had both HP's and Dell's and I'd never buy either again. My Acer laptop, purchased from Amazon, has never had one single problem and I've had it for 5 years. My computer repair person suggested Acer.

My Senior Network Engineer son always uses and recommends Dell computers. I've had mine for years and not one problem.
