Not happy with EZ Pay as the Default Option

I just received a message about upcoming EZ Pay payments on a few recent orders I had made. Until receiving that emailed message, I had thought I had been careful when placing each of my recent orders to ensure that they were all one payment and not EZ Pay, but I guess that when changing my order to choose a different color option while on my way to checkout, the orders in question defaulted right back to EZ Pay.

I wish it were once again an option to select EZ Pay, and not the defaulted norm to pay with EZ Pay, which it now is-- at least on the items I have chosen to purchase.

Going forward, I will need to double, and perhaps triple check each and every order I place. I am not happy about this at all. I should not have to be inconvenienced to do extra work for every single item ordered online to be able to make a single payment for a purchase, IMHO.

Yeah, I've complained about this before too. It will also default back to EZ Pay if you change the credit card you want to use to pay with.

When I ordered my TSV laptop a few months ago, I used EZ pay.

But $5 a month for 6 months stuff - that's crazy. I also double check before I submit to be sure I'm not using EZ pay.

You can always pay off anything that EZ pay was used for.

I agree. At one time I recall those wanting easy pay had to make that choice at checkout. It was not the default.

I totally agree and got caught once with ezpay. I have gotten in the habit of double checking.

It is easy enough to check, but it is not convenient. It is there for the Q's benefit not the shopper, no surprise there.

Just curious - how does it benefit QVC?

It's s been my experience that the system defaults to whatever you used on your last order. You can, of course, easily pay off all of your easy pays at one time online.

I thought they changed that a while back. I have to change it manually at checkout if I want ez pay.

@FranandZoe - True, but that would/will require that I make a phone call to QVC (which might require my being placed on hold for a while, wasting more of my time) or my writing them a detailed email request with the order numbers and the item numbers I wish to pay off in a lump sum. That is yet another PITA.

@Kachina624 - How is that done if one does not use online banking? I am a check writing person.

I will go to my online EZ Pay orders to see if I can revert them to single pay for the next month. That would be nice. I will try this.

Interestingly, @FranandZoe , the system will not allow me to make the change to my order, AND I also just found out that two of the four items ordered that I was previously notified are on backorder and that were not yet shipped to me were already billed in full to me! I will be making a call to QVC after all. They seem to have billed me for something that they have yet to send out to me (if what is indicated in their own system is correct). I will have to get out my recent credit card statement to check on that. That is truly something. Glad I checked my order for all four items (2 of which-- black slacks -- are doubles and are the ones I never received as even QVC indicates they were never shipped to me).

@Jersey Born, I didn't say you could change an order - just that you can pay off EZ pays. But of course you couldn't do that online by writing a check. For that you would likely have to involve CS.
Interesting about being billed for things not yet shipped.

I inadvertently used ez pay on an order last year. When I realized what I had done, I went into the order and checked the option to pay the rest of the ez pays. When my next credit card statement arrived it had all the ez pays on it and I sent my credit card payment in by check, as always.

The only difference with that order was that it listed the four payments on the credit card instead of one.

@Kachina624 this is not true. I paid off my easy pays months ago and haven't used that option since. Whenever I place an order it defaults to easy pay and I have to manually click the one-payment option every time.

I never use EZ pay but it is always the first default option on my orders also.

I always manually make the change. Not really a big deal, but slightly annoying.

@Jersey Born If you're referring to paying off easy pays, you can do it yourself online with a few clicks.

That's odd because some time ago when placing an order, I had the option to click on a default to one payment. I did that and now at checkout my orders automatically show one payment unless I change it manually.

Well, @FranandZoe, apparently, those two black slacks are right now "in process", instead of being listed as backordered, and that the QVC system did indeed change that order for those slacks to a single payment, as I was able to make that change in the nick of time just now on the Order Detail page.

What I cannot do, however, is change the other two items in that order (which I have already received) to a single payment.
