can,t they lower the food prices...if they stopped wasteing so much for their presentaations they could. Just waatched a Cokrys demo about 10-15 pkgs of ribs on display what a waste, goes for all the food demos.

I am sure they dont eat it all, once opened like that they cant give to food banks, the homeless etc.so lower the prices so people can afford to buy.There are many things Id like to buy buy cant justfy paying all that money,

The vendors supply the demonstration products--part of doing business.

The same items are probably used over and over, so they can't be donated.

If there is product that can be eaten, I've read many times that the crew behind the scenes eats it.

The prices also include the packaging, dry ice and one or two day shipping built into the free shipping price.

Of course the crew consumes a lot of it.

During the Ninja grill presentations last week they showed staff and crew eating plates of the food. They lined up eagerly.

Don't worry too much about waste...

Today it's about three pounds of bones, with 6 ounces of sauce and 10 ounces of meat for only 80 bucks....not too much waste there....it's mostly waste to begin with!!

Sheeesh.

Only 20 bucks a pound...whattabargain!!!!

@bad4257 One reason the prices are so high is the generous money-back guarantee. All one has to do is call CS and say they don't like what they ordered and money is refunded. Somebody has to pay for the food that some find unsatisfactory.

Another big expense is the free shipping, often second day air with dry ice in a cooler.

@bad4257 Buying food from TV is not for the budget conscious. Agree with previous posters that I doubt much of the food "goes to waste" and the cost of shipping has to be factored in. Shop locally!

I remember buying years ago. The prices just were not what they are now. I automatically calculate the price per pound, or the price per serving, and know I can get the same or better deal in a restaurant. And . . . I don't have to cook it or clean up.

The price of food doesn't phase me one bit.

If I want ribs, my local store has them at $2.29 a pound. My grocery store also has chicken, crab meat, and supplies to bake with.

I make my own food. Who wants to eat processed food sold on a shopping channel?

Most of the cost of food sent to someone home is for boxes, coolers, dry ice and shipping.

Have you sent a package through the mail lately, or with UPS. The price of gas is extremely high and the costs are passed on to the consumers.

How many people do you think it takes to get four pounds of ribs prepared, cooked, packaged and sent to you door? My guess is at least 20 or more, all who expect paychecks.

Agree....but your local store also has to pack, ship, refrigerate and handle the products too...

But of course they do it on a much larger scale...

@bad4257 @By having a bountiful looking set filled with food QVC is using psychology to get viewers to not worry about costs and money. Skimping on the food on set will make people think, 'economize.' Viewing abundance will make people forget about this...or at least Q hopes. People don't economize while at a feast...they enjoy. That's the mindset behind this sales strategy.

Like the Vitamix presentations......250 dollars worth of fruit and veggies all strewn about, to make an 8 oz glass of juice!!!

Those juicers that were sold on infomercials were like that too.....

Of course the stuff that comes out of the Vitamix has no strings or pits or pulp...so there's that!!!
