Possible Scam Email Claiming to be from QVC

Today I received the following email:

“QVC: Join Our Exclusive Research Community!

Hello!

Thank you for participating in our streaming research these past few months.

Today we have an exciting new opportunity! We’re looking for a group of shoppers to join our exclusive and private Streaming Research Community.

As a member of this community, you’ll have an opportunity to voice your opinions and help inform and impact how consumers watch QVC—today and in years to come. You’ll get first glimpses into some new ideas we’re considering and serve as a key contributor in developing new programs and initiatives. You’ll receive weekly emails inviting you to participate in surveys, discussion boards, polls, interviews, and other interactive activities.

For your time and participation, you’ll earn credits towards your QVC account to use on future purchases. You will also have the opportunity to earn a variety of e-gift cards.

If you are interested in being part of our Streaming Research Community:

Please take this brief survey below to see if you qualify. Your responses will help us get to know you and determine if the types of research topics we have planned will interest you.
If you are chosen to participate, you will be directed to the research community to create your account.”

The email contained a link (which I did NOT click on), and the sender was listed as “Shop & Share Squad Fuel Cycle Community.”

Was curious whether anyone else had gotten a similar email.

didnt get it, but if you are interested in it and want to make sure it is legitimate, you can forward it to qvcsocialteam@qvc.com to confirm its authenticity.

Thank you. I have forwarded the email. I am so tired of scam emails, texts, calls, and even door-to-door solicitors. (If I get one more person at my door claiming to be with Duke Energy and wanting to sell me solar panels, I swear I will tear my hair out.)

I didn't get it but you are right to be skeptical. Everyone needs to be defensive these days. Shop & Share Squad Fuel Cycle Community? That's where they gave themselves away.

I doubt it's a scam since doesn't ask anything of you except some time.

I forwarded the email and have already gotten a reply. I was told it is a legitimate survey. I am genuinely surprised. I laughed when I got the response because I was so sure it was a scam.

@PamHeet - Sounds suspicious to me. When I was getting a lot of questionable emails from Amazon I called and talked to a supervisor. She said to pay attention to the sender's email.

If it is from a gmail address, it's almost always spam.

Just because it's legit doesn't mean you should take part.

Yesterday when I paid for my coffee at Wawa the cashier handed me information about a survey. "Take our survey and be eligible to win prizes."

I decided to check it out. On the survey company's website, I didn't like that I had to enter my identifying information first. On the next screen, I found out I could only take part if I joined the survey company's (not Wawa's) rewards program and I had to agree to let them use my information in any way they wanted.

Not an enticing proposition. Luckily I could back out and remove all my info.

I sent Wawa an e-mail telling them what I thought about their survey program.

You can't ever let your guard down.

Yes, I got that too and they were very interested in customers that stream the shows which I don't do. What's the point of streaming past shows especially if the item is sold out 🤷🏻‍♀️. I need a new modem so streaming can be difficult as my screen freezes

I watch QVC through a Roku app…I’m guessing maybe that counts as streaming? While they give you the option to watch past presentations, you can also watch the channel live, which is what I do. I cut off our cable awhile ago due to lack of use (my husband only watches Netflix and Amazon), so going through the app is the only way I can watch.

@PamHeet I understand your frustration...I have a No Solicitors posted at my front door ....either they don't know the meaning of that word or they just don't care....

@sann Same! It doesn’t seem to any good. My neighbor told me she answered the door for one such salesman, and when she pointed out her no soliciting sign to him, he told her, “I’m not soliciting.” Ugh.

I have a "No Soliciting" sign and I've had exactly one salesman in the past 3 years. Works for me. I made quick work of the one that did ring the bell.

Our condo association has a "no soliciting" sign at the community's entrance. It works. I can think of only one solicitation in all the years I've lived here. They were hanging advertisements on front door knobs for a new health club down they road - associated, not ironically, with a for-profit hospital. I complained and an executive apologized, saying his own community has a similar rule and he wouldn't like such litter either. He blamed the incident on the company they hired to do the job. LOL. Cross that company off the list of possible future memberships.

The email I received yesterday from QVC was a diamonique survey. I haven't bought diamonique or any other jewelry from them for a long time.
