Kathy Levine and Monifa

If you want to know why Kathy Levine is a beloved professional, she had absolutely no reaction when host Monifa D. MISPRONOUNCED her last name TWICE on Q2, at the beginning of a Diamonique earring presentation and at the end of it.
Kathy just smiled. I'm hoping Monifa, who has a difficult name to pronounce, was corrected by someone and has since sent Kathy a muffin basket and an apology note.
Kathy reveals a lot of interesting things on her monthly Q2 Diamonique show. She caught herself calling something "amazing," and then she said she trains people NOT to use that word when referring to jewelry, because truly amazing things are childbirth, Rembrandt paintings, etc.
There's a new host named Nancy who uses the words "amazing, "stunning," and "phenomenal" so much, that those words have no meaning when I hear her say them.
Kathy, like Marla Wynn Ginsburg and Paul Woods on HSN, also reads and REFERS to reviews people take the time to write. She addresses the concerns in reviews and explains that she has changed clasps and ear wires based on what her customers wrote.

@MarnieRez3 On a side note, I briefly tuned in early in the AM (in AZ 3 hrs earlier than PA) and saw Pat presenting several items Sat and Sun and noted she started using the filler phrase "as well" several times in a short span of time.

I recall a # of yrs ago, a lot of chatter on this board regarding Pat's seemingly constant use of that phrase. It was remarkable how she simply stopped using it one day and I didn't hear her use it for years.

Then, recently, her use of the phrase re-surfaced.

I highly doubt Kathy who is such a warm and gracious person, is expecting a muffin basket and note of apology.

I have a very hard to pronounce maiden name and my married name is even harder. One gets used to various pronunciations and just roll with it not to make the other person feel bad.

I don't think Kathy cared at all considering that there are two ways to pronounce Levine and Kathy uses the less common of the two. Kathy is a reasonable,gracious person who would not find offense in something so trivial. She'd just correct her after the show. Yes, people who talk for a living sometimes mispronounce words or names. Everyone isn't as perfect and error free as you are.

You didn't do anything wrong. I think you should make it a point to know your vendors. Isn't that part of your job?? Keep posting your opinions as they are valuable.

That's just inexcusable! Her producer should have corrected her - in her ear- after the first mispronunciation.

I started watching QVC because of Kathy. She is one of a kind.

When you are working side-by-side with someone, the very least you can do is know how to pronounce her name. If it were me and I had done it, I would be embarrassed.

But, here's a thought. Why let it happen? Know your product, know your vendor. Simple.

Since I no longer watch, I often miss Kathy. However, when I have seen her, she is always gracious.

Kathy Levine is a true professional and a class act. She would never embarrass someone by calling attention to their mistake in pronouncing her name.

I have a last name that it hard to pronounce and lots of people mispronounce it. I just ignore it and move on. Not a big deal.

A lot of us have names that may be - for some - difficult to pronounce. That's not the point. Monifa is supposedly a professional. She should have found out beforehand how to pronounce Kathy's name. Just another example of QVC being on a downhill slide.

Monifa probably should have done her homework a little better and had properly pronounced Kathy's name properly. Having said that, it doesn't excuse one particular poster in here from constantly making rude and unkind remarks at other posters, and I quote, "Everyone isn't as perfect and error free as you are." Contrary to what that poster posts, she's the one who thinks she's perfect and error free.

@zitawins Yes, to what you've said. I will also add that emotionally healthy people have good self-esteem. They don’t need to put others down to feel better about themselves.
