Half Tuck

Why the half tuck? Either tuck your shirt in all the way or wear it out all the way. It looks like a sloppy mess especially since it always starts coming loose on one side.

Who started that? Is it a by-product of the high low top? Which is not very attractive either - unless it is kind of curved & not with slits that are abruptly high in front & low in back & square.

Just one of my pet peeves.

I wear it often. Not at all sloppy if you style it and the rest of what you wear.

@bestday Seems as though it's the faux "cool look". To my eye it simply looks messy and certainly doesn't show either the top or pants off to their best advantage. It look like something an adolescent would do.

Lol! These are the same sentiments that I heard as a young girl when we started wearing those bell bottoms. My grandmother said they are going to get sloppy and dirty. I didn't care, I wanted to be cool and fit in with the fashion! Same situation only fast forward 45 years.

Another vote here for SLOPPY. There's no logical reason, that I know of, for a half-tuck.

I remember reading the half tuck had its start on TV police shows. Some actors wore their badges on their waistbands and had to half tuck in their shirts so they could be seen.

Nothing cute or stylish about a half tuck to me. As someone else mentioned on this post, either wear your shirt in or all the way out.

Reminds me of a shirt that was tucked in until I sat down and leaned forward - and the back pulled out of the waistband.

It's just another example of the fashion industry telling us what's 'in style' and that it's modern and chic. Seems to me they ran out of ideas years ago.

It's relaxed and casual. Not messy.

Seems you're a polyester Liquid Knit fan, as you have stated.

That's an old lady look to me.

We have so little variety today in women's fashions, I welcome different looks. I usually on my daily errands see a sea of black clothing, leggings and jeans. Very little variety and everyone looks kind of the same... So a half tucked shirt really doesn't bother me.
