How did you discover QVC?

How did you first discover QVC and become a customer?

I discovered the Q in 1996 when I was in the hospital for a week. I started watching and ended up getting hooked.

In 1987, I was transferred to a new city. While checking out the TV channels, I stumbled upon CVN. This concept was new to me and I started watching. Shortly thereafter they were bought by QVC. I've watched off and on until about a year ago when the company changed the way they wanted the hosts to act and they got rid of Louis Del'Olio. Now I only watch WEN shows.

I think in 88 or 89. It was not long after they aired. My mother told me about it. She made her first purchase. Some type of figurine and was happy with it. I started watching. It took me year to purchase something.

I remember watching it when it first started, here and there.

I didn't buy anything until the Princess Beanie Baby appeared late one night. So I guess that was 97 or 98.

I continued to be an occasional viewer/shopper; usually buying jewelry on my aunt's recommendation.

Started working and the late nights stopped.

I started up again as a regular around 2010 or so. I stopped on ITKWD and stayed.

I was channel surfing in 2000 or 2001. I watched a for about a month before I bought my first item, which was a garnet bracelet. After that, mostly everything I bought was from QVC.

I believe I started watching it pretty much from the beginning! I was single and worked a lot of hours and sometimes I'd come home and was not ready to go to bed as I was still wired up and needed something to watch. I had no premium channels - couldn't afford them! I came across the Q by acccident and thought -- wow -- this is pretty cool! Way back when, they would have the speciality shows with the sets to match the products and often were in costumes and, of course, the original hosts. It was so enjoyable and so much fun! The Q kept me company and amused for many hours!

My mom. Back in 1986 I was at my moms and she was watching the most unusual television station. They were selling stuff and my mom ACTUALLY bought something from TV.

Well, the first item I saw was a Diamonique ring. Somehow I got hooked. It was on all day as I did my chores around the house. It was something I knew that wouldn't have inappropriate things on while my kids were in the room.

I guess around 1988 or so. My sister stumbled on it and told me about it, but it wasn't available on my cable. When it was I started watching. My first purchase was from Steve Colantuno.

I was channel surfing one Sunday evening and caught Kathy Levine selling Diamonique and it became a Sunday ritual for me to watch her shows, I remember watching Judy Crowe and Jeff Hewson as well, although it took me awhile before I purchased anything.

For me, it was during Covid. My husband, upon us both agreeing to it, left our home to help his elderly Mother in need at last minute, as no one else in family stepped up to help. He was gone for 6 months. We would talk and see one another but only at a distance to protect her. It was a very hard time in my life. Many of us had even worse during the pandemic. Anyway, it was like bringing life into my home and being live TV and loving fashion as I do, it was very comforting and something to enjoy when I got home from work. Sometimes I would just have it on in the background too. Then came my first Barefoot Dreams purchase which just amped up the comfort level. I have been hooked since.

From co workers around 1989- 1990 . Bought some Diamonque , pearls and a 14K Italian gold bracelet . Once went to Studio Park and bought some jewelry in the shop . Later found the outlet and began buying a little more since I could actually see the items . The outlet had those beautiful carpets, sheets, and a case of the more expensive gold jewelry . Bought cookware and a cukoo clock . I still have all the items that I bought way back when from QVC .

Around 1991 or 1992, channel surfing late at night. I also came across a shopping channel called Via TV where people called in and placed bids on items. Lisa Robertson was on. That channel didn't last long at least on my cable.

For me, having my first baby in 1983 I was watching HSN during the night time feedings.

I didn't buy then, as of course I was young and had no money to spend but I always found it interesting and loved all the different products shown. I started watching the Q when it started I guess and have been watching and shopping all these years. For many years though I preferred HSN over the Q and still do today.

I started watching in 1986. I just flipped through channels and there it was. I remember one of the first items they sold was a radio for the shower, and some sort of device for sore muscles.

I always had it on in the background. Just like I do today. I don’t have to really pay attention. If something catches my eye I’ll stop and watch.

@San Antonio Gal I can't remember the exact year, but it was the late 80's or early 90's. I got hooked on Tiffany inspired Lamps and Thomas Kinkade artwork. I still have all that I collected. Now my granddaughter has her eye on one of the lamps. Over the years, I had purchased most of the Kinkade Disney paintings for the grandkids. They love them and still have some on their bedroom walls. Denim and co also had really pretty leather jackets that I was hooked on as well. They were affordable then. Now everything is "faux" . The things that interested me years ago just don't exist, are not affordable for me, or aren't promoted today. I still enjoy watching QVC and do purchase occasionally. Things just change. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@KBEANS You are saying they peddled Beanie Babies on QVC? OMG I find that so funny!

My neighbor mentioned QVC to me, maybe 20 years ago. I remember a vendor selling New England style decorative items, kind of nautical in nature, like a doormat. The products were nice. I don't remember my first purchase though.

I enjoy watching but do get very tired of it sometimes too. Some prices are fair enough, some are ridiculous. I would never make a major purchase at QVC, just clothes and smaller, lower-priced items, gardening stuff, etc. I buy local for electronics, mattresses, furniture, exercise equipment.

It was January of 1986--after we FINALLY got cable TV and it was on the very first day QVC debuted as QVC---my first purchase was a heart shaped, medium color amethyst in a sterling setting. Then I bought a 4 qt Nesco oven --the host was Steve Calentuno.
