Wonder Why QVC Isn't Into Sales?

I'm talking BIG sales with a lot off. They never seem to do that. I was thinking when HSN did that back in the day, boy you watched or missed out!

It created some excitement, was fun, and made you hit the phone even when you didn't think you would. They would run out of something but there was MORE to come!

Surely QVC has stuff like that to sell. They are so boring and same old same old now. Free shipping!!!! Their biggest deal. I'm talking half off and a few items more than that.

@Sooner I think they just sell pallets and pallets of these "BIG sale" items to vendors on Ebay. You can find thousands of items there, I buy a lot and 99% of the time I am very happy with my purchases.

doesn't make sense when current on air items are available on EB for much much less

I read or heard years ago that QVC never ran sales because they offered their items at the lowest possible prices. It also explained their odd pricing (ex. - $10.47 vs. $10.99 in stores) that was based on a percentage of some type. The problem with QVC is the inclusion of very high shipping and handling charges. That puts many items out of reach for people. Back then, their only real competition was from brick and mortar stores. Now online competition is fierce and finding comparable items at much lower prices is relatively easy. I don't know how QVC can change it's now dated model to something more appealing to the masses, but it certainly needs to if it's to survive.

They need something to shake things up. I'd try a BIG sale during some shows, several items, deep discounts, not many to buy, et.

Don't schedule it, just have it! It would be an incentive to watch and a bonus for those who do! Do it for maybe 10 minutes or so in an hour and blow out things.

Reminds me of when I had a few items I was looking at on JTV..........then I realized they had been on the website for 5+ years after looking at the dates on the reviews.

One time I saw for sale pallets of stuff that QVC was selling. I thought that it would be interesting to see all the different stuff that was on the pallet.

Then I thought, what would I do with a whole pallet of "stuff".

The thought of buying a pallet of "stuff" quickly vanished.

You would list the items on ebay. Would take a lot of time and effort but could be worth it.

On a rare occasion they do have a "blow-out" type of sale on a product.

And they normally sell out of the item immediately if it's shown during a reasonable hour, not in the middle of the night.

@Sooner I happened across Colleen Lopez on HSN and watched for a few minutes and was drawn in. IMO she gave a master class in selling. It was her fashions and she and 3 models of different sizes presented for 2 hours product after product. They stayed on point, discussed why it worked on their size. Models comments added value.

No nonsense. Blueprint for moving quickly and presenting lots of products with outstanding information.

Maybe you were referring to "one time only." With 3 channels to watch, and who wants to watch 24/7, it's difficult to catch these.

I remember once HSN had some kind of clearance program, and they were whipping through the items fast. I liked that! If I want it, I'll order, otherwise, let's move on!

Honestly, QVC seems to beat items to death before moving on.

Names like Isaac, LOGO, Graver and WWC have been showing up.

This use of Zulily is noted as a component of "Project Athens."

@cjm61 . You buy QVC items from individual sellers on Ebay or you're buying the pallets?

Once again, thank you @They CallMe MRWILKES!! I never checked Zulily before and it seems you are correct. Lots of Susan Graver. Will check the other brands too.

I think they have more sales now than they ever did. Whether or not I'd consider them "big" sales is another story. I think every so often they offer a sale item at a good discount, but generally not.

Back in QVC's prime, aside from the TSV and a very occasional OTO, they never had sales.

@jackthebear To me it would get more people to watch the presentations, create more interest, and give viewers a bonus. Not everyone buys off of EB, not everyone wants to do that.

That is why Colleen is my all time favorite host across all shopping channels. She is simply the best IMHO.
