THE DOWNFALL OF QVC

It is no longer enjoyable to watch or shop with QVC. All the good hosts have either been let go or forced out of their positions. Think Lisa Robertson, Lisa Mason, Jill Bauer, Antonella Nester, and now Carolyn Gracie and Dan Hughes. Of the newer hosts, Mary Nelson was professional, low key and pleasant to watch. The newest group may be cheaper to hire and keep by QVC, but they all seem to lack professionalism and on-air presence. It is likely most of the "salary money" is going to the two longest term hosts, one male and one female. Another host who is on all the time talks nonstop about herself and is exhausting to watch. QVC needs to re-evaluate their moves from the top down, and maybe the top brass should be fired for making such poor corporate decisions that only serve to push customers away. For now QVC seems to be, one by one, putting nails in their corporate coffin.

@rose123 Oh I so agree! The Host on every night is the worst. I am seeing all over complaints about her so it is not just here. Let's put it this way. The ship is sinking

I disagree completely, that QVC is on it's way down. Times are hard for all retail operations right now and adjustments are in order. There is much that I enjoy about the Q. I still buy from them and intend to continue doing so. Though I've atched long enough to remember and have liked the older and the previous hosts - I also find a lot to like about the current and new hosts. Change is good! All the best QVC! I am a 33 year fan and customer who is going nowhere!

Wow. Just wow! Wonder what their parachute packages amount to. Even when the top fails, they still come out on top because of these packages.

Agree, agree, agree. Just goes to show that the company is losing touch with its customers. Laying off these two and keeping some of the ones they have who lounge about in their pajamas or who are beauty vendors running around with silly interruptions, hardly offering anything of value during their air time, sure isn't my idea of entertainment nor is it my friends. If I wanted to watch weird entertainment, I have plenty of paid, subscription channels to watch. Some of the newbies have such abrasive styles and voices that I switch channels when they are on. I have been a faithful customer for over 30 years, a former HR specialist, fun-loving, and I am perplexed. They have forgotten about us loyal customers who have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with them. My buying is slowing down, not because of the economy, but because I can't stomach the show. The latest debacle was the last Over 50 & Fabulous airing. Going loud doesn't mean going smarter, funnier, or engaging. Change can be good in this crazy world, but I think QVC is going in the wrong direction. If they want to draw in the younger crowd, they should get the buyers to order items similar to what Zara sells and look at selling weekend getaways.

The irony of it all is they are constantly promoting support for "women's small business and women's month" etc etc just not when they get of a certain age. But they will be happy to sell you "anti-aging" products.

I think if you look at QVC's recent on air hirings, it will give you a clear indication of where they see their future with on line shoppers. They are clearly aiming for a younger demograpic and I do not fit that model.

I have gone from having QVC on as background noise to now only watching the videos of a product I might be interested in or the presentation of the days TSV. There are many hosts that I like and enjoy watching and there are hosts that annoy the heck out of me. I will refrain from listing who is who.

The important question is, will this new business model, the anticiipated demographic work for QVC and increase sales? or will QVC alienate their current base? I guess only time will tell.

I am sad about the situation at QVC. I have shopped at the Q for over 30 years. I will definitely slow down my shopping to a trickle. Things are still not back to normal for them. Takes forever to get some items, returns take forever and free exchanges ha. I will miss Dan and Carolyn. Sorry but I'm old school and I like the hosts that have been there a while and some of the new ones. When Mary Beth, Jayne, Leah and Pat go that will be it for me. There are too many annoying ones to mention. I do tape some of the shows so I don't have to hear them but sometimes you have to listen.

Most irritating to me is the shipping costs, quality of some items. I think customer service is great but the slow computers etc shouldn't be happening. I could say more but I think most has been said.

I have been with the Q since day one. Since I do not like to shop QVC was the place I bought all my shoes, clothing, cosmetics, kitchen items and gifts. I did all my Christmas shopping for years at the Q. Lately I do not enjoy watcing QVC. I would tune in to watch Carolyn and some of the older hosts. The younger hosts and the direction the Q has gone in recent years is just not appealing to me. I may be wrong but I do not think that Carolyn or Dan expected what happened to them. Carolyn was planning different programs in the future with no mention of leaving. I have lost respect for a company that treats their long time employees like that. I plan to shop elsewhere. This statement is shocking to those that know me because for years I have been called the QVC lady. I can find many of the clothing items I wear that I normally purchased at QVC on ebay and I plan to do that.

Hasn't been fun here for many years. It is no longer cost-effective for consumers either.

This company has priced itself way out of the market the last few years. Yes I know prices for everything have gone through the ceiling however we can certainly shop for everything they sell here for MUCH LESS elsewhere including brick & mortar.

I won't miss spending my money here but they will.

Q is in an at-will state which means they can fire anyone at any time for any or no reason.

This happens in big corporations all over the country every day.

Stop being naive.

You conveniently omit, in all of your posts on the matter, that an employer may not terminate an employee for any reason. Not true. They may not take action that is illegal per federal and/or state law.

Federal and state discrimination statutes prohibit employers from basing employment decisions on an employee’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. Specific state statutes may also protect employees from discrimination based on other factors, such as sexual orientation.

The multiple posts repeating this are political, politically charged and electioneering in violation of forum rules.

I am a realist and understand corporate thinking all too well. The future is youth but removing a proven favorite host, like Carolyn, is a kick in the teeth to the people who made the company rich. I know she must be overwhelmed by the responses of her loyal customer base. Good luck, fine lady! Like you, many of us will look for options beyond West Chester.

QVC has been on a steady decline, while other retailers stepped up their game long before the pandemic or supply issues, QVC has been going downhill long before any of this occurred.....they are now in double digit declines and sales are now down 11% for the Christmas season and for the year overall...it used to be 5% decline at one time......Yes, change is good, but QVC is not making the RIGHT CHANGES.....the majority of the hosts are annoying, act silly and immature and most host view the presentations as their personal talk show, it seems the hosts want to be models instead of letting the actual models model the clothes And QVC doesnt need 2 or 3 hosts in one show!!..The entertainment angle and the extra streaming host shows IS JUST NOT WORKING IN TERMS OF SALES..While these may be enjoyable for host "fan clubs" these people dont seem to be making actual PURCHASES! ..product information is limited, and the financial reports arent good......

Agree with many of the comments posted here. Been with QVC for 20+ years but time to move on. Can get things faster, less expensive, free shipping and good customer service from other sources (Amazon, Ebay, etc.). Don't enjoy the newer hosts (or some of the long time ones either) or the over selling, wine drinking, personal information sharing that seems to be the rule these days. Even the forum postings have become increasingly snarky; with posters being attacked when expressing opposing opinions, even when done in a respectful way. Wishing Carolyn the best as she moves on.

QVC became very successful many years ago before the start of the internet. People of all ages watched- sometimes all day to find out what would be sold next. They got to know the hosts and their stories. Then came the internet and IMO the start of QVC downfall. People started comparison shopping and reading reviews. It became easy to internet shop elsewwhere. Now.... 30 years later, there are less and less of those faithful QVC watchers who enjoy watching their favorite shows and hosts. There is no need for the younger generation to watch QVC. Even if they start selling merchandise geared for the younger people..... they won't start watching QVC. Amazon and other sites are so much less expensive than QVC. Even though there are still a bunch of faithful QVC viewers who love to watch on TV.....as time goes on there will be less and less people watching QVC-even as the younger generation become the older generation.
