Host page thoughts.

This is not a bashing of any host , but i can't believe a few of these hosts can possibly have more sales than Carolyn did. Some are down right awful at presentations. The only thing that would have improved Carolyn would have been a good stylist which we all could improve with. I am hoping she was offered a deal to good to sweet pass on.

I really try to give new ones a chance to improve , because it really isn't as easy as people think.But some are not meant to be in front of camera , some just never get better. That being said one newer host i could not stand the sound of her voice and now has improved so much that i really enjoy her. I know it has been said before , but we really need to change channel if some one bothers us so much to come on here and say hateful things.

@MW in Iowa In this case, it want about sales. Carolyn especially had to have had great sales. D&C sells very well as do the plants she peddled. Many people would stop, listen, and buy no matter what she sold.

@MW in Iowa There is NO way to know if sales were a factor in QVC letting her go.

She and Dan both have had health issues, which makes their health coverage more costly, among other factors.

None of know. Everything else is nothing but guesswork.

If Dan or Carolyn believe they have a case for age discrimination, they can sue. Many have and have gone on to win a fair settlement

I'm sure QVC would hate the bad press.

I thought Carolyn did a great job, I wish her well.

@BalletBabe There's another thread right now talking about how great Monifa and Gary are together! Lol! It's all very personal and subjective, who we like, what we like. I do think pretty much all the hosts have good qualities.

A lot of them don't but CG was probably more highly paid than newer hosts, so Q will save the money of her salary.

@BalletBabe @I liked the show with Monifa, no just because she was hosting but because they made a major change to the show. She didn't keep walking around the set and she did not change outfits. This was much less distracting than the format they have had with hosts changing through a show. She just added one top as a shacket over her top near the end of the show. She only made a couple of outfits by matching with other things, which was also much less distracting. These changes made for a smoother show. Now, if they would zoom in on the garments much more, they would really be improving.

They have been trying out Denim & Co hosts on For a couple of months. This made me suspicious. I also noticed Mary Beth seeming nervous and using "ums" repeatedly when she was on Q2. This was out of character for her.

There was a public statement from QRate about the company's path forward this past summer. This forward path program is is a three year plan called Project Athens, and a part of it includes reduction in staff. It's a five part program which includes boostering/expanding up streaming versus set time and channel TV. Consolidating real estate. Plans for QVC, HSN and Zulily. Plans to reduce costs were a part along with plans to strengthen customer relations.

Maybe the new plan should get rid of the CEO staff. Let's start there.

@MW in Iowa The ? I've wondered is how does the day hosts' (Carolyn or Dan) sales compare to the hosts that are on in the evenings as I would think that more people watch during the evening hours; anyway just a thought.

@Mindy D - I did read about plan Athens. I wondered if they would eventually "streamline" broadcasting on TV. In yet another effort to get the preferred younger buyer I can see their doing this. The younger group does prefer watching streaming programs in general.

I imagine they will keep the video clips under each item, but I can't tell you how many I've watched that include part of the presentation, but the WRONG part of it - not much information!

As far as watching shows on TV, I don't know where that is headed! What do you think?

They are liable to lose a big chunk of their loyal longtime customers. But I'm sure they've researched this. Taking QVC in a different direction must seem to be more profitable.
