14k gold "CLAD" turned brown- aarrgh!

In December I bought Kathy L. Diamonique initial pendant.

The chain has now turned brown. While over 30 days, CS is

issuing a full refund.

@ellaphant @Shoot, I bought one, but in the silver. I hope mine doesn't turn. I haven't worn it yet. Glad you were given a refund.

@ellaphant some people (like my dh) have more acid in their skin than others. dh, can't wear anything plated at all.

in the description does it state that the chain is clad as well, or just the charm? i never have a problem with clad stuff personally.

The pendant didn't turn just the chain. Both lay on skin.

Anything clad in gold won't last. How quickly the gold disappears is up to how much was layered on and the person's skin chemical makeup.

Bottom line, clad never lasts. I consider it costume and prices are too high.

If Gold is over sterling then it's not constume jewelry. They call it demi-fine jewelry. I guess because of the two precious metals involved.

Any other kind of metal like bronze or brass that has gold over IS costume jewelry.

Sorry that happened. I guess you get what you pay for. Real gold is so crazy expensive now compared to 10+ years ago. But I would not waste my money on "coated" jewelry. I would buy sterling instead.

Not Diamondique, but I've had costume jewelry turn GREEN on my skin. And anything that is not at least 14 carot gold in earrings, will quickly infect my earlobe. I have the worst time with all earrings. When I first got my ears pierced, they got infected, and the doctor said I was allergic to all metals and stay away from them. I didn't and have kept trying for decades. Also had fine jewelry turn green on my finger....

Clearly, this means YOU disagree with what the INDUSTRY has said about this category of jewelry. No skin off my nose.
