Kerstin is Leaving QVC for Three Months

"It’s time for us to go…

…but we’re coming back!

After years of prayer and planning the Lord has led us to take leave from work & our current life, and go serve others.

My husband, children and I will be working as missionaries at a Christian medical clinic in Mexico for three months.

So many of you are so close to my world and know service is the cornerstone of my purpose. And so I do feel called to share this part of my life and this time with my family, and with you!

You can follow along on my personal Instagram - @kerstin.lindquist , as I’ll be doing videos and a blog from our location.

My last day is January 21st but I’ll be back on air by April 20th.

It’s a very exciting but also somewhat nervous time for us. Please keep us in your daily prayers.

Good for her for following her path. It's a personal decision for her family and as for how she'll be replaced on the Q will be interesting.

Maybe that's why the kitchen sidekicks have been given more regular programmiing. Most likely the relative newbies will be having more exposure too.

Yes. She just announced it. I'll miss her but I wish her well in this endeavor. Takes a special person to do this esp with a family.

Wishing her and the family the best. I'm assuming the children will go to school in Mexico during this time or get home schooled? That's great that she's able to coordinate this trip with 3 children involved.

That's also wonderful that the Q will accomodate her schedule.

It is nice that she and her family have the means to take three months off to follow their dreams. Most likely she will write a book which may be popular in certain circles. Good luck to her.

@chessylady - It's probably funded through her church or some other organization. Housing will be provided so it's probably minimal funds out of their own pocket. I've known folks to do this type of work that didn't have any funds.

I've been switching back and forth with HSN and didn't hear this announcement. Honestly I am not her biggest fan but I give her a lot of credit for her courage as this is quite an undertaking. Wish her and her family the best.

What a wonderful surprise to us.I had thought many times,while listening to her,that she an family were christins,an believed in the Lord.Hopefully all will go good for them,good luck to all.

I've known several people to do short term missionary, or medical support roles. For most, they felt it was the most fulfilling journey of their life.

However, I can't think of a single person, I've known, who took children with them. This could be a valuable education for the youngsters, but there are risks in challenging environments. Hate to be a Debbie downer, but Mexico is high on the risk scale.

I hope the site Kerstin and family will be working has some security measures. I wish them safety, spiritual enrichment and a lifetime of cherished memories to bring home. They'll be in my prayers.

@BlueFinch - You've got a good point. I wouldn't want to bring young children. The people that I know that were missionaries were childless.

My first thought was why rip the children out of school for three months. It has to be traumatic for them. But who am I to question another's parenting or calling. I wish Kerstin and her family well. I am now going to educate myself about what one does as missionary work at a medical facility if you do not have a medical degree. Looking that up now. Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, and best wishes to anyone who's holiday I may have omitted!

@San Antonio Gal You are probably correct, my older sister went to Urkaine 1 year+ ago to volunteer. It was funded by the group she went with...housing is also provided.

She is a nutritionist I believe so that skill would be used in a medical capacity
