This has to be the most overused, uncalled for word that I have ever heard on this network. I just cringe every time I hear it!

Well, you can learn something new with each show such as wearing that oversized fleece of Bumble bella to the Opera or MukLuks joggers to a fine restaurant for a special dinner . Just do yourself a favor and buy PJ tops instaed of regular tops twhich can save $$

NONE of the clothing lines QVC sells is CHIC - quite the OPPOSITE.

Well, if QVC is like any other sales organization, the sales reps meet regularly to discuss what's going well, what's not, and updates on whatever needs to be discussed.

I wouldn't doubt there's a silly contest always going on ... like "the word of the month" or some such competition ..... and the hosts get points or credit for each time they say that specific word.

At least, I hope that's what it is. Otherwise, I have no idea why they do that. Makes no sense to me, but it's not happening by itself.

WHY? It's easier for them to remember one word and use it for everything.

True, but QVC's target market isn't the "chic" crowd. That would create massive returns. They do best with the classics ... and we know what we're getting when we place an order .... well, usually.

While I'm sure many would like to see more fashion forward attire being shown, that type of clothing would inevitably increase returns.

JMO, but I think they stay with the tried and true clothing, and get a little more adventurous with gift items and food sales. Well, that's the way I've seen the shows to be, back when I regularly watched presentations.

My most over used is "elevated" and "raise to the next level." Especially when they're using it with joggers and taking them to the next level, or elevating them with heels and some jewelry....

They use the word because they have a very limited vocabulary. When everything is described as chic, then the word has become meaningless and is being used simply as a filler.

@Drewps5co0tt Gross exaggeration. I rarely hear anything described as chic. QVC is heavy on jeans, tees and PJs, mainstays of the American woman's wardrobe but rarely described as chic. Please stick to legitimate complaints. There are plenty.

I guess "chic" is the replacement for "beautiful" and "gorgeous". There are some hosts who are completely devoid of adjective to use. A good vocabulary should be a prerequisite for the job.

I think it also depends on the host and how and when they use the term.

While on vacation a few years ago, I shopped in a large and beautiful women's clothing store. It was a week day, first thing in the morning, and I was the only customer in the store.

The sales clerk who waited on me was determined to appear knowledgeable, but I honestly don't think she was all that savvy with fashion. She kept using the term "fashion forward" in every other sentence, and by the time I left the store I wanted to strangle her!

I hardly ever hear chic used on QVC, at least not so I'd remember. So I doubt it's QVC in general.

It may be that you're regularly watching the same shows, like Fashions Night In, or anything hosted by Shawn or the co-hosting shows of Jane & Courtney. I don't usually watch any of those shows anymore, so that may be why I don't hear the word being overused. Thank goodness.

As much as I like Dennis Basso and I do, he also over uses the word, 'chic'. Just about every other word in his description of his items uses that word.
