Ever Notice?

Ever notice that certain hosts will say "I have this at my house & use it all the time", then they ask the presenter how do I do xyz with it? To me it just shows that they DON'T have one at home. If the did, they would know the answer.

I think they want the vendor to explain maybe what they can't as well, or maybe just to bring the vendor into the conversation.

It does not necessarily mean they do not have and use the product - just asking important questions as a way to present important information! Infomercials and commercials use that technique all the time. Also an interviewing technique used to get needed info that the person being interviewed did not address.

@Carolina925 I suspect you're right - the hosts might well be able to provide answers, but they also have to have a lead in to the vendors.

By the way - as far as having a particular item in the house, I have so many small appliances I use often, but I use them for the same few tasks over and over. I'm sure every one of my possessions could do far more than I ask it to do!

I have the Oster counter Airfryer+. I use it nearly every single day for either airfrying or toasting. There are 8 additional settings in it that I have never used.

One setting is called "Turbo Convect." I can only imagine my food flying all over the inside of the oven until done.

@millieshops and @Caaareful Shopper , I'm the same way. I've had my VitaMix for probably 10 years and still only use it for my protein drinks My air fryer gets used mainly for roasting veggies. The best excuse I can give is that I cook/prepare food for only me so I give myself a pardon! I do need to venture out, however.

There is some truth I think. There is one host that has said numerous times its the only mascara i use...2 weeks ago she said the same thing about another brand. We are listening people. Not that it matters because I would never buy anything just because a host says its the best and the only one she uses...clearly some lie to those truths.

selling spiels are not new to me

i've seen, heard and read it for decades

i expect it on shopping channels, commercials, ads, etc

they all contain spiels

Especially the ones who claim to use neck creams...from what I can see it's not working...

They have to ask the vendors questions or they would have nothing to say.

I totally believe the hosts have these products. They get them for FREE!!. In my opinion, they ask questions for us, the viewer. If they have a vendor rep I do believe it's a better idea that they supply as much information as possible as opposed to the host. The vendor rep should know more, and usually does, about a product.

I think that the hosts asks how to use it so the vendor could explain it to the audience. The host should ask the question differently. She should say "Can you please explain to the audience how to use the product?"

Yes I've noticed this and another thing the hosts say on practically every item is "and each time it's presented it sells out completely." Every time they say this I'm going "Hmmm, really?"

If they did their "homework", prepared, studied and became familiar with the products which will be in their show line-up, they would not have to ask basic questions.

There is (at least) one host whose obvious lack of advance preparation is glaring.

They receive samples of beauty, skincare, haircare and food items.

They have all mentioned this many, many, many times.

Beyond that, I am certain they do not receive clothing or jewelry or electronics or appliances "for free."

I have heard them mention they are "loaned" products, such as vacuums, to test at home, but must return them.
