Beekman 1802 Sold?

I noticed in the recent Beekman presentations both on QVC and HSN that they keep mentioning "this won't be back" ..or "this offer won't be back"..

I started wondering if they were going out of business or.....?

Did you know they've apparently been sold for 92 million dollars?

I can find some articles as late as July 2022 online, but they are behind firewalls so I can't read the whole article...

It may or may not matter in the long run. Just a little info I found today!!!

Eurazeo Brands Acquires Beekman 1802

"The partnership with Eurazeo is meant to allow the brand to expand even further, and to continue learning more about the microbiome, the team said in an interview.

“As the founders of a company, we have always been self financed so this is a huge step for us to take on an investor,” Ridge said. “We talked to many people, it was a very competitive process.”

The brand chose Eurazeo because of the investment firm’s prestige and consumer knowledge, as well as a “great stable of brands,” Ridge said. Eurazeo also backed Pat McGrath Labs and backs Nest fragrances.

“We felt they could be value added to us, and honestly, having gone through the process and sitting in room after room of middle-aged white men, we really did love that Eurazeo is headed by two women and we felt that was critical in the direction we want to go with our company,” Ridge said.

Eurazeo was attracted to the brand because of its focus on self care and kindness, which is core to Beekman’s mission, said Adrianne Shapira, managing director at Eurazeo Brands.

“Self care is only gaining importance in a post COVID-19 world — being kind to the planet, kind to your community, kind to yourself. Those are table stakes, frankly, and it is such a big part of Beekman’s DNA that it’s frankly a private equity’s dream,” Shapira said.

“The goat is the hero, but to us, this is a unicorn brand,” Shapira said. “We have definitely spent a lot of time in skin, body care, beauty, and I have to say, Beekman knocked our socks off from the beginning.”

Beekman chief executive officer Tomei Thomas said the brand was able to grow because of its community and purpose. “Having that north star and being able to build a very strong community around our purpose has undoubtedly got us to where we are today. Even today, word of mouth marketing is the leading source of acquisition and customer acquisition for the business,” Thomas said.

Beekman grew quickly on home shopping channels like QVC and HSN and, more recently, branched into Ulta Beauty. The brand is “heading into the next phase of growth,” said Thomas, “and that’s why we wanted to bring on a partner — not just for capital, but to bring expertise in the space.”

Going forward, Beekman will look to expand its product range, enter international markets, grow the team and make investments in digital and e-commerce, Thomas said.

The company is bringing on former Shiseido Americas CEO Marc Rey as chairman of the board, which will also include Shapira and Eurazeo principal George Birman.

Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell said they plan to stay on with the company, overseeing creative aspects of the business including product development and marketing. Thomas will also stay on as CEO.

To get the amount of goat milk required to run a major skin care brand, the duo have been using dehydrated goat milk from 24 farms in the U.S., Ridge said.

“Even as we plan to go international, if we ever get to that point where we’re manufacturing product specifically for other countries, we would still have the ability to utilize goat milk from those countries as well,” Ridge said. “We will always be rooted in that goat milk heritage. We can see ourselves continuing to develop other nutrients even outside of goat milk to optimize the function of the skin’s microbiome.”

“Our goal is really to spread kindness as far and wide as possible around the world, and it was evident from the moment that the entire Eurazeo team drove to Sharon Springs and came to the farm, met the goats, sat with us on our porch, that these were the partners that would help us do that,” Kilmer-Purcell said.

Moelis and William Hood & Co. advised Beekman on the deal."

thanks for printing a whole article....!

It always amazes me how far down the ingredient list the goat milk is listed.....they always make it sound like it's the number one component, and imply it's 'liquid"...although I confess I never heard those specific claims...

I like the product and use only thier soaps now....so I was hoping it was NOT the case that they would disappear!!!

In the long run, almost everything we buy is bought and sold many times over it's life, sometimes changing name, sometimes not....

It was awhile ago I did read something they had sold over 60% of the business to someone else. Other than that I have read nothing more.

I enjoy the Beekman products however no product seems the same after the majority ownership has been sold.

@Othereeeen - It's been discussed before, that the goat milk is used in dried form. That affects where it appears in an ingredient list, but not the "amount" they are using.

Somewhere there's another thread where this was explained, but you can also google information on how to read ingredient lists.

If they make the product elsewhere and / or get the goat milk elsewhere, how do they ensure the proper / humane care of the goats used? Or does that really matter to them?

For humane reasons, I will not buy from them.

Well, good for them---altho I can't watch them very long with their silly Neighbors spiel---I use a few things that I like well enough---- now probably the recipes will change for the products to cheaper stuff--not that upset.

I just wish they'd take their goats and go. The goats are cute but the reps are not and I don't enjoy watching them.

We're also seeing much too much of Josie. Her presence has become tedious, a channel turner.

I haven't been interested in QVC beauty items in a very long time. When Bare Minerals I think it was hit the screen it became way too much personality driven rather than about the products.

Especially now they are really in a holding pattern with beauty and makeup.

Josie and her homecoming queen outfits? Naah.. How on earth does she convince the plain ladies of Morocco to crack all those argan nuts for the incredibly rich American Sports Illustrated swimsuit model so she can become richer? Talk about a nauseating appeal.

It doesn't mean necessarily that the brand is going away. They're (QVC/HSN) winding up the year and they won't be bring back the same configurations and prices.

I agree @ quebetzforreal The hosts have been saying that for a majority of the products shown. Nothing new . Does not mean any vendor is going away.
I like Beekman products very much. Use their soaps, facial wipes and body creams. Love them. But I only order them from HSN. Always Free Shipping on Beekman products from HSN.

I worry about how the goats are treated and if the milk is taken away from their babies. It's why I won't use their products.

@darkhomespun If the Beekmans aren't selling goat products, they won't be keeping many goats either.

QVC and HSN use those statements all the time. What they mean is it won't be back in that configuration or at that price point or sometimes it means this year. It doesn't necessarily mean they are discontinuing the product. They may pair it with another product or offer it at a different price point. And, just because they say it won't be back even if they mean it in that context doesn't mean the situation may change and tada, it's back.

I hear those statements all the time for the Perlier line of products on HSN. It's meant to incentivize. However, I have the opposite reaction. Why would I want to try and fall in love with a product that won't be avilable when I'm ready to buy again?

Who wouldn't sell out for close to $100 million? I tried a few products they were ok, nothing to brag about though. They sure cashed in on the milk of those goats. I wish I could completely eliminate any kind of animal products from my life. I've tried and failed many times.
