I am so happy to see Susan Graver and other vendors coming back into the studio! It is much more natural and shows their commitment to their products! It also shows that we can get back some of the normalcy that we need so badly in this country!

I'm fine with vendors working remotely. I think of the investment Kim Gravel and VPH made to have studio quality programming from their homes. I don't think it's an issue.

mute all SG presentations. Pat's not my fave either but I don't mind her presentations.

I read somewhere that all vendors MUST be in studio as of September. Not sure what happens if they aren't but there it is.

Not sure where you read that. Airline flights are a mess and a good friend and her husband just got Covid. She went to the hospital at 4 am as Covid kicked in a bronchial problem she has.

Don't believe that is a requirement.

@ellaphant @San Antonio Gal It was a business report that a dear friend of mine received (she covers specific aspect of vendors/home shopping shows/direct sales). She confirmed she heard that from many vendors who appear on QVC and HSN. All I can say is watch and see.

Editing to add: I personally don't care if they are or not as I rarely watch the shows. My question is who really wants them back in and why and why the September deadline? I've noticed many more are back in studio when I channel surf so...

@FiddleDeeDee Qurate has the audio of it's President and CEO at their August 2022 Financial Results presentation stating, "we will be welcoming the return of guests back to the studio in Q3."

That has happened with some (not all) vendors making a lot of their presentations back in the studio this month.

I've seen nothing that confirms all of them must return for every presentation starting in September. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

Have watched vendors out of studio for several years now...it has gone very well and quite relaxed. Now have seen some back in studio and I am NOT impressed--handled rather strangely distanced; appears odd and uncomfortable. Much prefer remote broadcasting out of studio!

In most cases I don't see that in studio adds any value.

In fact, some of the Skype presentations from home add more value, like with home and lawn products shown in a real life environment.

Personally, I hope that they minimize in studio guests and limit it to TSVs or major time consuming presentations.

I've seen some hosts apply what looks to me like passive-aggressive pressure on the vendors to come in as close as possible, or to hug them when they are in the studio now.

Carolyn Gracie I thought made things uncomfortable when she kept telling the female vendor (Michelle) for the Bethlehem Lights fairy lights TSV last week to "Come on in, stand closer! Get over here!" The vendor was already just a foot away from Carolyn, but Carolyn seemed to insist they stand shoulder to shoulder. To my eye, the vendor seem a little uncomfortable, she moved in but almost simultaneously stepped back a few inches to where she started.

Social distance protocols have all but waned, but I feel it's still a personal choice whether to hug or be extremely close to another person.

Carolyn posted a covid test on her Instagram page a couple of weeks ago. Lots of posters thought she had it, but if you looked closely at her photo, it was a negative test. Then she was repeatedly asked why did she even post it, if it was negative. It's not like she told the QVC audience that she thought she had covid beforehand. It was weird. She later deleted the post without responding.

I can understand a TSV vendor coming back into the studio for a full day of shows. But other than that, it makes perfect business sense to me to continue Skyping and Livestreaming presentations. Qurate said in its latest financial presentation that they are 100% committed to Livestream retail/selling, and not just livestreaming host chats, like they do now.

I guess only time will tell what they'll do.

With all the discourse about this in recent months, I have yet to read one cogent explanation as to why in person presentations by a guest add any value.

Most posters have said it makes them "feel better" or is a "return to normal. "

For me, that doesn't really explain why it's necessary or of increased information or knowledge about a product.

ITA Normalcy in business ..... Q is a billion dollar industry so it should represent high quality tv definition, proper lighting, proper product set up, no dark rooms, proper film angles, not a hotel room, your front room, kitchen or yard etc. otherwise people can just go shop Facebook or Instagram.

90% of the Live shows they do on QVC 2 are vendor-solo shows from their home, home-office, or made-up studio. Even the hosted shows are done in a very parred down corner of the regular studio, with very little crew or items in-person to showcase.

If QVC ever turns QVC 2 into the same production value as the main channel, then I'll buy the explanation about highest-value selling experience is only with vendors in the studio. Until then, I'm not convinced.

There are some vendors that work well skyping from their home----like Valerie Parr Hill's presentations are excellent.... so are Susan Gravers, Kim Gravel, Gary with D&C...Sharon with Berkshire .....

Now some of them are awful---something happens to their audio feed or its blocky yet the vendor keeps going try to get it over with.....

And who's the new guy with Home Reflections decor---he doesnt make much of an effort to showcase ways to use the merchandise from his home..He would be better in studio with Q design staff....

If the vendor is cooking on David's Kitchen Show it works better with the vendor/chef in studio so they can sync with David when cooking.....

@San Antonio Gal THe Hosts are what matters to me. No matter what Vendor is in the studio if the Host is JT then I am not watching. I swear everytime I turn my TV on she is the Host. They have so many good Hosts I don't understand.

@Caaareful Shopper @FiddleDeeDee That's corporate talk to announce they'll be back. Having said that, I believe remote vendor presentations will always be part of the mix for a variety of reasons. The technology has come a long way and they'll use it when it's to their advantage.
