QVC - What Happened to You?!

I miss the old QVC terribly. This has been the worst winter/holiday season ever. Your presentation show nothing but electronics, WEN, and nothing at all new. I should thank you as I have saved quite a bit of money from NOT ordering from you for my gifts this year.

What happened to the "old" QVC? I remember when you used to have a lot of new Flameless Candles, all sorts of beautiful sconces and table lights;

What happened to Bethehem outdoor lights, they are gorgeous and I decorated the outside of my house many years with these as I do not have outdoor outlets. You used to sell so many varieties;

What happened to all the thermal gloves and boots (especially the mens that my DH is treasuring) and that you do not sell anymore;

What happened to all the coats (not short jackets) you used to sell?

There are so many items that you have dropped from your shows and now you seem to be selling the same things over and over and over.

Where are the new and fresh products as well as so many of the other lines you seem to have dropped.

Where is the QVC I used to look forward to watching?

Alas, it seems to be gone. So sad. It seems that I am watching HSN more and more lately at least they have tons of new and fresh products but I really, really want the Q back the way it was.

I was so happy that my cable co. picked up HSN this yr. BUT I can not stand to watch it. It seems like cheap made p. o.* n. movie,lol... I can't tell who is the host & who is a vendor. Not my "cup of tea" at ALL.

I am also watching much less QVC this season. Tk goodness for Hallmark channel!!!!

JMO, QVC is not interested in attracting new vendors. The only thing they have going for them is the same old house brand junk or the same old vendors who PAY QVC, for airtime. Time was I bought at least 6 or 7 items (sometimes more) every few months-------my last purchase from QVC was in January 2014.

OP, I agree with everything you said! It seems every time I look at the program guide there is some sort of electronic thing being offered (or a vacuum). Why, I do believe we're in for more of the same for Monday's TSV! I remember a few years back David hosted a vintage Christmas show. It was wonderful ~ many of the items were reproductions of Christmas things from the 50's and 60's. They haven't done it since. The wreath I have on my front door is a Bethlehem Lights all white wreath with clear lights that was offered on one of the Lisa Robertson Christmas shows a couple years back. I wish they would bring some of those things back again ~ I miss it too!

No firm idea what happened, but it all goes back to management... and yes, it's a real shame how they've gutted this once wonderful, fun place to shop. It stopped being fun quite some time ago. It seems they lost sight of the fact that shopping is supposed to be enjoyable.

Last night and today they were showing the vacumn cleaner over and over,everytime I turned it on there was the vacumn cleaner picking up dirt on the floor, it would go on the whole hour,even on q.v.c. plus there it was, the q is losing it for sure.

I find complaints such as this ludicrous. Every single poster here has access to the internet which provides access to purchase anything we want -- seriously, you can purchase anything. Because of this, QVC changed because it can rarely offer exclusives (other than house brands). After all, how many of us see a product on QVC and look to see if we can find it elsewhere for less?

If you want cut coats, flameless candles, etc., they are right at your fingertips. It just takes a bit of work.

There are other ways they can compete for consumer dollars aside from lulling their audience into never-never land... It's high time they figured that out...

I agree with you, stevieb, and with the other criticisms of QVC on this thread.

They're not just a website, they're supposed to be a tv station devoted to shopping. But they've morphed into a non-stop infomercial, as much of a snoozefest as the cheaply-produced 30-minute infomercials we see in the wee hours of the night/morning. If the hackneyed responses "change the channel" or "shop on their website" are the ultimate answer, the question is: why go to the expense of a 24/7 tv channel at all? Since they're no longer offering the best prices on their merchandise, and the presentations are boring and repetitive, they might as well tape all the shows and rerun them or scrap the station altogether and move exclusively to being an online presence.

It sure ain't like it used to be. I used to have it on all the time. Now I get E mails for specific vendors I am interested in and never watch except for those shows. my biggest complaint is their discontinuing giving sizing information for clothing. I cannot tell you how much that cut back on my impulse purchasing which is their loss. It was so easy to pick up that phone, call automated ordering and buy the item you are looking at. Now they want you to go to your computer, boot it up and wait and then go to the website, find the item and check sizing info. Sorry QVC but by that time I have lost interest.

I completely agree. A 24/7 TV presence isn't at all indicated for what they do now... I suspect there's some truth to the notion posted by so many, that they are now as much in the business of essentially selling airtime and hosting services a la infomercials than they are of selling actual products directly to customers... Whatever they're doing and for whatever reason, it fully stinks to high heaven. When it becomes unwatchable, you wonder if their goals or the goals of their vendors are being met.

I still say...KYToby has some involvement in Q.V.C. because everything she writes is a little cranky to us as shoppers.She constantly defends the company,when all we are saying is we want variety....Is that too much to ask????

Mosky, 'she' has told us at some point that 'she's a he... Just an FYI... And I too have wondered if there's some connection, given the incessant and vociferous defense of QVC that seems such a focus of his posts... I tend to believe that were he a 'plant' QVC would probably suggest he be less obvious!

Perhaps you missed the OP's points. It's not that you can find things elsewhere it's the point that the Q started out by making you feel like part of a shopping family. Hosts were knowledgeable and came across as regular people. No over the top makeup and clothing. No screaming and interrupting vendors. They used to go across country finding local vendors with unique items. Quality was excellent and CS was great. Now it's low quality, high prices and super high shipping. There are a couple of hosts like Marybeth and Jill who are respectful to vendors and don't look over the top. Yes we can and I do shop elsewhere. Doesn't mean I don't miss the way it was.

The worst part for me is the lack of programming. Since OCTOBER it seems most of the time it is "Great Gifts" (not exactly great) "Late Night Gifts", "Gifts no one has ever wanted and never will" Once in a while a D & Co, AM or PM Style, or Philosophy. but otherwise forget it, I do not want to watch three straight hours of mish mash.

On thing I was happy about was to see Sandra Bennett on PM Style, if Courtney was going to get that spot it would be one more QVC Show for me not to watch. I guess I sound like I want all clothes, which is not true, I really just want to tune into a show that has a "Theme" what a novel idea for a home shopping network - huh?

I do spend my money elsewhere now because so many of the products QVC sells are available elsewhere for less cost and free or reduced shipping. So, why would I buy from them?? However, it didn't use to be that way. They did carry original and unique items that were not available anywhere else. not any more. There are a couple of shows I do watch because they are still exclusive to QVC but those items are few and far between.

I seldom watch QVC any more. Quality has gone down, options are fewer, shipping and handling is more expensive, shipping takes longer. I shopped online and at the mall for my Christmas gifts, this year. I see complaints in this forum on a regular basis, but it seems to be going on deaf ears.

You're entitled to your opinion and others are entitled to theirs. QVC used to offer interesting products that I couldn't find other places. Now they offer the same things over and over and it is the worst at the holidays.

Other shopping channels have been offering jewelry and reduced shipping. Not QVC, nope they have computers & vacs for sale - whoopee do!

I am shopping elsewhere - most days I switch right past QVC in the channel listing since I know there isn't anything of interest to me.

I will sometimes watch QVC as well as their competitors through their apps live feeds but generally just to research or for fun before going to a bricks and mortar store to look for something similar. TV shopping has lost its appeal.
