Oh wow! Do I feel like an old-timer. Gary Lowenthal was the Head Bean,his self for Boyds Bears. Hope that helps.

I think she means Gary Lowenthal, he was with Boyd's Bears. I thought he was obnoxious, but some thought him amusing, he was often with Mary Beth.

You must be an a long-timer here to know who Gary was. He seemed to be on-air constantly at one time. Not being interested in teddy bears, I never watched him but he was known to make off-color comments to Marybeth.

@Kachina624 He loved to get Marybeth blushing. However they always worked together so I'm thinking she didn't take him seriously. If my memory serves me right, one time for some reason he pretended to shoot a rifle at a certain group of people and I do remember thinking, uh oh, I bet that'll be the end of him.

@chlema I don't recall that incident, but yeah, that would do it. I think he was somewhat of a loose canon.

I've shopped with QVC for 10 to 15 years now and have never heard of him or of the bears.

I did some googling and this post from Mary Beth came up on Facebook from 2016.

In the post she says it was the first time she saw him in 16 years.

I have been watching QVC for a long time and remember Gary Lowenthal presenting Boyd's Bears...because I loved watching these shows. I didn't buy many of the bears but they were so cute and the shows were funny! I remember him embarrassing Mary Beth but don't remember things he said...but he loved teasing her! Thank you @Mesmeralda for posting this picture of Mary Beth and Gary! They must have been so happy to see each other again! I didn't see the show someone mentioned...but if l recall correctly, I believe Gary became ill and wasn't able to appear on QVC any longer.

My only mental image of him is in a hospital bed. Did they do a remote broadcast or am I totally nuts? They were discussing his weight loss.

He sold the company for a ton of money; then I heard he got some sort of fatal illness.

Obviously not true if he's teaching. I used to watch him all the time and I have around 500 Boyd's Bears and Resin to prove it. Anyone interested in purchasing????

Loved Boyds bears, they had a beautiful store near Gettysburg Pennsylvania that we would visit.
