I cannot bear spending $50-60 ( plus shipping, handling and tax!) on t-shirts...Kim Gravel, Susan Graver...WHOEVER...that I can get at Costco or Sam's for $12!

Yesterday, ShopHQ had some Christopher and Banks t shirts for $16. I was tempted but I know I can get similar at Macy's for less.

These days it's like QVC slaps a celebs name on them or call them California 'chic' and jack the price up x 5.

I bought a bunch of t-shirts last summer at JCP, Hanes and LandsEnd. Prior years - got some on sale at Chico's.

I won't need to buy any t-shirts for several more years.

IMO, QVC needs to pay attention to what the current economy is for our entire country and react accordingly, with the products they bring and the pricing.

I was thinking the same about paying an inflated price for Californa "chic". Not me, never happen.

@KingstonsMom They have reacted...by using cheaper quality fabrics and construction methods. Most D&C tees are still selling for in the $29-39.00 range but they bear no resemblance to what was sold 5 years ago. I'm holding onto my oldies, most of which still look like new (which your cheapie discount shirts will not). Please don't compare the quality of what you get at discount stores to what QVC sells.

Where did I say "discount stores"....I didn't.

I don't consider getting better prices for quality fabrics from Macys, Dillards, Belks, Lands End, etc., at lower prices, shopping at "discount stores".

@KingstonsMom You didn't say discounts but plenty of other people did mention places like Costco, Sam's, Macy's (sells lots of junk), ShopHQ and even the flea market. All of these places buy merchandise manufactured to be sold super cheap which they can do because it's poor quality. Will people still be wearing these shirts 5 years from now? They'll probably be using pieces of them to dust their furniture.

IMO, just because a t shirt is $50 does not automatically make it better "quality" than a $20 t shirt. One does not always get what one pays for.

And I personally do not want items to last "forever" like some posters seem to want. I have yet to get rid of an item because it wore out. More frequently I "outgrew" it--LOL!! or I just got bored with it. So paying $20 vs. $50 is a lot more attractive to me.

I also believe that many items are made by the same manufacturer and just different "brand" names are attached, e.g, many Karen Scott (Macy's) items are very similar to D&C.

As for me, I'm tired of seeing most of the t-shirts, period, especially with writing and bling. Give me a nice button down shirt with collar and cuffs any day.

Just looked at some tees of mine from a few years ago. They are 95% cotton,5% spandex. Now I realize the inflation thingie has driven all prices up. My point is the quality hasn't changed much.
