Host Picks or Host Favorites Airings!

Chances are this has been discussed on a thread somewhere - I apologize in advance if it has! There are many things that irritate me about program lineups and yes, I do turn off my TV and I also at times take my complaint direct to Customer Service. Then I get a nice reply email that my complaint has been forwarded to the appropriate person. That's the end of it as far as I know. Now to my point of this thread. I am so very disappointed in how QVC must think us loyal viewers AND customers are so stupid! Are we to believe that Lisa, Jane, Mary Beth, Rick and whoever happens to be hosting that day ALL have the same favorite products?!! Really? Seriously? All of them just happen to love the TSV (Dyson, Keurig, Computer, Bose, Mattress) HA! Just plain HA! Every time at least 80% of the products are "what she/he said" in their show! This season I have stopped watching them completely so is there a chance things could have changed? Rolling on the floor laughing!

Seriously? Getting upset because hosts on a shopping channel are pushing the products they are told to sell? Maybe you should actually change the channel instead of just claiming to.

I seriously doubt those are hosts favs. They are just told what to sell. You don't have to change the channel but there is another button called ""on/off"". Do what you want.

OP, yes, this has been a topic any number of times, because it IS utterly ridiculous... If anything, QVC seems to be doing at least a tad less of it this year than in years past, but regardless..., what they conceivably think they accomplish by labeling all this stuff as host favorites escapes many of us... They'd do better to simply call it what it is, 'our boring and repetitive holiday offerings' and be done with it, rather than put it out there that these are items their well compensated hosting crew are just chomping at the bit to own... And no, I don't watch them anymore either. Oh, and incidentally, it's just fine to say so... Yes, seriously.

ITA with you OP.......this is nothing but a farce and whoever came up with this idea should pursue another career....it's downright laughable that all the favorites happen to be the same for all the hosts .....and the customers that fall for it....""gee I gotta buy that since my favorite host (insert name here) has it as their favorite""----that customer is the bigger idiot!!!!

You might want to give it a workout, because, while I tend to let his remarks, (which are actually occasionally perceptive, believe it or not) roll of my back, his tone is always the same. They're all right and we're all wrong...

I've often wondered what induces some posters to feel they need to rush to the Q's rescue...

I agree with you, OP, and I won't watch any Host "favorites" programming. Those shows are no different than the old "QVC Sampler" shows.

So true, which also highlights the fact that the Q is offering the same stuff year after year... And really, isn't it time for some fresh stock...? This mess is unwatchable... Better than Black Friday... in your dreams, Q...

In my opinion, the Q powers-that-be made a huge mistake in marketing this foolish host-pick idea. I did not watch at all today because most of the time I had no idea what products would be shown. I was not home all day long but when I had a moment to sit down in front of the TV I would have turned on QVC if I had known they'd have an hour of clothing, handbags, shoes, or cosmetics but since I had no idea what a host pick consisted of, I didn't bother to tune in.

Well, I'll tell you... I checked the items on air and it was essentially the same ten or fifteen items rotated over and over among all these multi-hour shows, and for the most part, the array wasn't pretty... but rather was just the same bunch of 'holiday' season junk (practical presents/electronics/stocking stuffers, etc.) we've come to expect from what was once a fun place to shop...

Surely most people realize the "host picks" is just a sales gimmick, but some do not, I suppose, so it may help sales. Maybe the hosts DO like some of the products, but they are just doing a job.

I think most of us get that, but it's become as stale as their programming and product mix. When the vast majority of your customers know something is a gimmick, it's time to find a new gimmick... As bad as it's been lately, though, I'm not sure it really matters. Those who are wedded to shopping here are going to shop here no matter what and the rest of us are out there seeking greener pastures, watching and shopping elsewhere...

.....Heaven forbid that anyone should post valid comments, suggestions, or criticisms of the "dear Q".....It must be a lot of work defending QVC...especially when more and more customers are commenting on the products, programming, sales gimmicks and quality.....
