They invite someone in to speak about their product in regards to national heritage and right in the middle of talking about his products host abruptly interrupts him and says, "so sorry, we're out of time." Why bother having these people on air?

There are time constraints on every part of every presentation. If someone babbles on incessantly, they have no choice but to cut him short. Some people would go on all day.

Time is money for QVC. They probably tell the guests to speak quickly but that's hard to do so time runs out. The hosts are not being rude, the guests know that.

I do think it rude. The host spends all the time, talking, laughing and talking nonsense, then turns and asks vendor to explain in sixty seconds.

I would like to hear some expertise, and it isn't coming from the host.

I don't think it's rude. I think it's reality. Hosts, vendors, reps of all sorts have to learn to work with the clock -- and it is a learning experience.

This is an old complaint but a very valid one. I agree but as it has been said, the Q is a shopping channel and the bottom line is to sell and keep selling. These hosts are sales people bottom line , some are more courteous and professional than others.

They were not selling anything, they were interviewing. The product was not sold on QVC.

I have to agree, to a certain extent, with the OP. The host should tell a few things about the product and let the vendor explain. After all, they are the supposedly expert about the product.

If the host didn't talk so much about other things, the vendor would have time and wouldn't need to be cut off.

And yes, the producer is telling them to wrap it up. Some hosts have to be the center of attention all the time.

Why doesnt the QVC Producer do a quick run through with these entrepreneurs before they go on air to make sure what they have to say is short and sweet and meets time constraints!---some may be brand new to TV productions

They used to. I don't know if they still do in the new age of remote interaction.

I would be surprised if they're not prepped beforehand, but I do think it's harder to control someone who is not in the same room as the host.

I think the 'speaking over each other' syndrome is a combination of host, vendor, and remote locations just being more difficult to deal with. Some hosts and vendors seem to do a better job than others.

@Spurt I'm guessing they're given an orientation and time constraints so they shouldn't be too surprised if they're cut short. Most hosts are diplomatic in telling a guest that time is up.

For the defenders of this practice - The hosts are no longer convincing me to buy. Only hosts like Carolyn and Marybeth and a few others. I don't want to hear what the host is buying, what her daughters would like, etc. I don't mind if the host gives their favorite color. But most of what they say is not helpful to the buyer. I want to hear more of the vendors. Yes time is limited, so why let hosts babble endlessly? Carolyn and Gary know how to integrate both fun chitchat with good information.

One other thing that bothers me is when Jane always uses up time to interject another item which has had its own presentation and using up time for the item being currently presented. I don't mean a host showing how two items go together. I mean just out of the blue talking about some other item. QVC - that's not making me buy a pair of shoes or a purse in addition to a top being presented.

I don't watch Carolyn and Gary because they got so silly. Carolyn with her baby talk with animals and her dancing and flailing arms. It seems like Gary goes along because he has to. He doesn't act like that with other hosts. I don't thing they're funny at all.
