Can somebody tell me the difference between a Duster and a Cardi? I don't get it

Dusters tend to be very long cardigans that often go to mid calf. A cardigan might hit at hip length.

I thoroughly agree. Dusters are long, cardi is just a word for cardigan and those are the familiar hip length.

Cardigans have buttons. A duster is a loose, lightweight full-length coat without buttons,

Both dusters and cardigans are open in front and may or may not have buttons, snaps, or other types of closures. A cardigan is usually around hip length and a duster is longer, sometimes to mid-calf or ankle. The fabric weight can be light or heavy in either one. A duster is not necessarily a coat.

And then there are cardigans that are very long too just like long dusters, ankle length or midi.

All I know is I would literally "dust" the floor with some of those dusters, they are way too long for my 5'4" height!
