Cheap material, but high prices for their clothes

I don't return a lot of clothes I buy from QVC, but recently I have sent back two tops because they were made from cheap material and just look like something I would buy from Walmart for half the price. They were made from two different designers too. I read the reviews and they seem good, but when I got them the material was so thin and showed every bump on me.

Quess I will be looking eslewhere for clothes.

I agree.....depending on the designers, some can be a bomb. I just returned 2 of Issac's tops that were T-shirts with a pocket in the front. The material was soooooo thin, it felt,like Cuddlduds pajamas. Nope, back they went. I don't like really thin material either.

What is the materiel that you feel is cheap? I agree that the their prices (the Q) are high.

I agree that often I find the material on the cheap side, but then again I am often pleased. It's really a mixed bag.

The last thing I can remember thinking was on the cheap side in terms of fabric was a ruffled skirt from Peace,Love World. Very cheap, and the price tag wasn't.

I'm keeping it because I think the style is cute and I'd be out $7 dollars just to return it. I did get it at a clearance price, so that was good.

QVC is not a place for real bargains. For me now, it's just an easy way to shop, a bad habit, actually, and something I do for the fun of getting the packages. I really should stop.

Years ago, when I had to be more careful of my budget, I would definitely be looking elsewhere.

I agree the material they are using is not the same and lesser quality on some clothes.

For me it's either a hit with me or strike.

Is it me or are have some of the sizing measurements changed too?

I need to know things like does the garment shrink, so I can decide if I want to size up or not.

It's not just QVC. I order most of my clothes from Talbot's and Chico's. They're both using many more cheap synthetics than natural fibers. I'm finding more dangling threads, loose buttons, and mismatched plaids than I ever did before. I read about fabric content very carefully online and I wait for sales.

I have purchased all my summer clothes locally and I am very happy with the dresses. I purchased at Ross I have not ordered anything from Q due to reading all the complaints. Shipping sounds terrible. So instead of me getting frustrated I just shop elsewhere with no complaints.

Im a sewer and have taken courses in textiles so I think I know something about fabrics. I've noticed a marked decrease in the quality of the fabrics QVC uses across all lines in the past few years. Everything is thinner, more clingy, more Spandex used. I won't even wear Isaac's Pima cotton tees any longer. I despise D&C Perfect Jersey and Kim Gravel has nice designs and colors but some of her thin fabrics are deplorable. There are many other examples, too numerous to cite.

I have trouble in the fall even finding winter weight shirts to buy for cold weather. Even the sweaters and sweatshirts are thin.

I totally agree. I've stopped shopping at QVC and have gone back to Nordstroms. I can't believe how expensive all the fashions are. Even Denim and Co. which used to be the bottom of the line. What is happening with QVC? Terrible hosts with such high pitch voices that hurt my ears. I have to mute most shows, specially Susan Graver.

Moving on, it's not worth it!

@Kachina624 I agree, the Isaac Pima cotton tees are not the same quality and the D&C perfect jersey tops sometimes feel like scuba material. I have sent items back this past 6 months that should have fit or been of nicer quality based on past purchases from the same line. Those return fees add up.

I actually dislike shopping for clothes online but there is little to choose from locally that is any better, unless I'm willing to pay $$ for a tee shirt. I was unhappy with D&C pricing until I did some comparison shopping. I'm glad I don't have to replenish a work wardrobe! I won't buy disposable fashion and therefore stick to classics to maximize my budget. The downside to that approach is I get bored!

I have not bought clothes from Q in a very long time but I love the SG skorts -- when I saw they had new color variation I ordered.

I had to send back...ugh ... couldn't get it past my knees! I've bought the same size for over 5 years in her skorts -- so either they are cut different and if I didn't send it back for this reason it would have been the CHEAP material....

I was certainly disappointed and won't order again. Our stores are well stocked as of the past few weeks and better prices anyway.

As for @Kachina624 comment she is a "sewer" I'm sure she is a excellent "seamstress" ....

I bought a hot pink and not only is my bra visible, but also my belly button....

I won't buy anymore of those and I wish I would have sent this one back...

I so totally agree with you! I'm also a sewer and have had a lot of experience (sewed for theaters) and have had a lot of classes growing up that are related. I can't stand thinner, clingy fabrics and some of these I remember back in the day of Fabric Stores, being in the back on the bargain tables.... because no one wanted them!! I didn't buy them then for my projects (and I could have used a break in price) but just couldn't buy that thin, cheaper stuff.

I just went out on Friday looking for several T-Shirts and I was appalled at how thin they were with no real substance and clingy. Didn't buy anything and brought out my old stuff because I love the weight of it. Bad thing is, most are really too big for me now and I really DO need some new ones....

Before you buy, if you check out the "white" top, this will show how thin and if you can see through.

The Q needs to adjust Susan Graver prices. Her polys cost more than all the designers. The Q must think her poly is gold.

You might want to try LL Bean's Pima cotton, many for $19.99. Isaac acts like he invented Pima cotton.

Try JC Penney's St John's Bay for outstanding sweaters and cardigans. The material used is like what we got years back and there is nothing chintzy about them. I have bought them the last two winters and told my friend about them and now she is hooked. I have every conceivable color that they sell in this brand. I gave up on the Q long ago.JC Penney's generally has them in stock before Thanksgiving. Have received so many nice compliments when I wear them Love wearing them with my cords when it is bitterly cold out.

I too love the skorts. They are my go-to here at the house and also when I am at my lake home. Look so much better than shorts for a woman my age. Put that with a nice cotton tee and you are set for the day.
