Parts of Maryland , esp in Baltimore or Montgomery Co there are groups that have a twang of mispronunciation . In other areas of the state you can hear some definite southern drawl. I can usually tell what geographic part of Maryland a person is from by the way they sound or word phrases they use. I would 't care if I didn't care abt trying to understand what someone is trying to communicate to me .

Ask and axed is a big one for me . So are you trying to axed someone or ask them a question. So, If you absolutely cannot pronounce a word than try to use another word that communicates the same thought .

I noticed this quite a while ago, and not just on QVC. It seems to be mostly younger people. It drives me nuts. I pointed it out to my husband a couple of weeks ago when we were watching something on tv. He just started laughing and asked if I was the grammar police. I said no, but I guess the nuns did a good job teaching English and Grammar when I was in school. ❤️

Most of it is regional. Like roof and bagels to name 2. In some parts of the USA roof is pronounces ruf.

And some of it is just wrong. AND a persons age is told by the way they write certain phrases. Don't get me started about the addition of the word "out". Change it out, etc.

No, this is not a regional thing. I have lived in PA all of my life in the same area.

Young people that were born and raised here are pronouncing words differently than their parents, friends and neighbors.

It sounds weird. They are learning it somewhere. I have heard many local folks commenting on the changes and wondering why this is happening. Thankfully, my adult children and my grands have not picked this up.

Most people around here don't really stress the "t" at the end and I couldn't tell you who does and doesn't and could not care less.

But then we don't pronounce the "w" in "cwafee" either so yes, it's regional differences. And we are sophisticated like the French who often don't pay any lip service to the ending of words.

But I wouldn't worry, people can't spell, don't understand that just because a word sounds alike doesn't mean it isn't spelled differently and have a different meaning.

Language is in flux. "Couple of dogs" is now "couple dogs." He forecast the weather for the week is "he forecasted the weather."

I appreciate and love regional differences in speech and language as much as I appreciate foreign languages and think it is a wonderful thing.

And how someone talks doesn't mean one darn thing about what kind of person they are! Some uneducated people happen to be the smartest and sweetest people I know.

And what is worse than dropping the "T" is when people change it to a "D". ImporDant. Owww my ears!

There are a lot of words that I won't ever say, even though they seem to have been accepted because they sound wrong to my ears.
