I'm gonna start a "quarter jar" and get rich!

I've watched a lot of QVC this weekend and whether it was Kourtney, David, Rick, Valerie, Mr. Christmas vendor & more ...

was this the script for this week.

I wonder if such suggestions convince anyone to buy. "Oh yeah, that would be a good idea for Grandma in the nursing home." or "Oh yeah, that's a great idea for Emily's dorm room - whenever she's allowed back on campus [frown]."

I totally agree with you.....

And it irritates me when they say a tiny table tree is good for a person that lives in an apartment/condo....obviously they need to see how me and my friends decorate in our "small spaces" I live in a condo and they live in apartments and all of us have 7.5 ft trees...........

On rare occasions when I watch - pretty much only decorating shows - I barely pay attention to what anyone is saying. It’s just on in the background.

I see where you're coming from because hosts repeat certain statements all year long.

However, I'm sure when vendors are demonstrating their products to hosts before they are aired, how they can be used is discussed. Of course, hosts will sell more if they suggest ways customers hadn't considered.

Valerie shows displays to give customers ideas.

Whenever I buy something I think about where I can use it or wear it. On occasion, I saw something I really liked, but couldn't think of where to put it. A suggestion from a host was the reason I bought it. Other times, they led me to think more creatively.

I'm sure many customers don't watch as much as others, so comments by hosts aren't repetitive as they are for those who do.

I am assuming all the host get a list of "talking points" from upper management. They probably have found an uptick in sales by mentioning certain phrases.

Sadly probably not too much $$$ cuz after 1/2 hour of David selling the food -- channel switch🙄. I know he was dying to eat the food and could tell his "willpower" was weaning...although he did say he'd receive sample to enjoy at home🙂

That would make sense if QVC was doing well, but for the last several years sales have been declining....so its time to change their sales gimmick...............

@Spurt I don’t believe they will change anything. Look at all the complaints day in and day out about shipping. Nothing like having a skeleton crew for cs and ignoring their customers. They seem pretty clueless as to what should really be done. JMO.

But since Covid, many of the hosts have been claiming that since lockdown, qvc has had "tens of thousands" of new customers. They seem to sell out and quite quickly on a lot of items. Do you think that's all trur or are sales still down? The amount of food they say they sell is outrageous.

We wont find out how QVC is really doing until the next quarterly report....there used to be a couple of categories that always did pretty well, but others never lived up to expectations and some like jewelry continue to do poorly....Normally the report does include a graph on new customers and sales from current customers...

My pet peeve is KL constantly hugging herself when selling cardigans or whatever, saying we all need comfort right now and to feel safe..... just please stop it already!

I totally agree with you. My Mom went into a nursing home 3 weeks ago. She can't hear very well, has anxiety (who wouldn't), family can't help her & I have found that when you have a loved one in rehab or a nursing home you have to go to check things out. So I have no idea what her condition really is. I used to trust some of the hosts but not anymore. I am not buying Christmas presents in June or July!!

Early during the Covid shutdown I spoke with customer service people working from home. That did not last long! If they wanted their customer service improved they would have left that option in place.
