Antonella catches her own crab ?

Did anyone catch the Egg Harbor crab cake presentation on QVC2 ? I was shocked to hear Antonella say she catches, and boils her own crab ! Does anyone where she does such a thing ? I had never heard of anyone doing this. She is a great cook but had no idea she also fishes.

@Reever We love to crab! I wish we could do it more often. We have done it in New Jersey and on the Chesapeake. We have placed traps and also done drop lines. I'm sure Antonella loves it also. It's like fishing - very relaxing.

@Reever I've caught many a crab on the Jersey Shore. We cooked them up for dinner. Just cleaned out the garage and got rid of the crab traps.

@Reever -You must not be from the east coast or near NJ, MD? You can't live there too long without some fishing or having someone catch them for you.

My father and I would go deep sea fishing a lot and catch, clean, and cook our own fish.

Nice memories but I don't think I'd like to do it now.

I don't eat crabs anymore but that was always a family pasttime as many times as we could.

My aunt and uncle lived in Dundalk MD on a creek off the bay. They kept crab traps virtually in their backyard. My aunt made crab imperial. Best crab i have ever had. Coukdnt get fresher crab than that!!

As a kid, we'd all pile in the family car and go "downa" shore in New Jersey and do some crabbing. Best crab we ever had.

When I was young and newly married, dh and I would catch crabs in Galveston. They didn't have much meat and we soon concluded they weren't worth the trouble.

When we rented a house on the Sound in the Outer Banks with DH's whole family, we went crabbing all the time. The Sound was waist deep pretty far out, so we'd load a crabbing cage with chicken backs, tie an empty gallon container to it and leave it a couple hundred feet out in the Sound overnight. The next morning one of the men would retrieve it and it would be full of crabs. There was also a small community crabbing pier beside the house where the kids would spend hours crabbing with baited lines and nets. Mighty fine eating!

grew up around the chesapeake bay and the delmarva peninsula.....we learn how to crab early on usually. it is peaceful and lots of fun.

going "downey oshun, hon" is a big pasttime here.

Caught crabs in traps and boiled them in a pot

Over a beach fire. Dungeness crab. Sweet and delicious meat. 👍😋

I and my family were raised catching crab at the Jetty....my grandmother was a pro dropping them into the boiling water while I hid. We had crab nets.....I miss those happy days. I still love crab. I miss abalone.....DELISH....

Wow...you must be talking about Bear Creek? Ha ha, my dad would take us down there to catch crabs with a chicken neck on string! We used to lay on our stomachs on the pier and dangle the neck in the water. When we got a bite, my dad would scoop the crab into a net and in the bucket. He would bring his crab trap and after a long day, we would take our catch home and my mom and aunt would steam them in beer and old bay...man they were good. Now we buy them already steamed but I get fresh crabmeat from Smith Island crabbers on the eastern shore of md the morning its caught, steamed and picked. Its ready to buy by in my town by the pound by 11 am. Only way to have crabmeat...nothing compares, you are right Shawnie. It’s definitely a MD,Chesapeake Bay thing!
