Martha Stewart's Comment

She was on a few days ago. I really like her. She is 78 and said she has the antibodies and never knew she was even sick. I believe she mentioned she and all her staff have been in full operation. I was amazed....she's very healthy. So it's one good story to hold onto I guess. Did anyone else hear her?

@cbrite Yes, I heard her say that. In fact, I know a few people who have had the same experience, according to what their doctor told them......they have the antibodies. One was someone I work with and she just thought she had a bad case of the flu earlier in the year.

Since she and I work closely and do things together, maybe I have the antibodies too and don't know if I may have had the virus. Would not surprise me because I have always had a very strong immune system. I haven't taken the flu shot for the past 20 years and never take the recommended shot when I travel to various countries. The only place I went to that mandated a yellow fever shot or you couldn't enter the country was Rwanda, so I did get that shot. Not sure they still require that. The shot is good for 10 years, I believe.

And yes, Martha did say that she and her staff have been in full production the whole time. I believe I read somewhere else that she mentioned it was up to the staff if they wanted to continue working, but am not sure if that source was correct. But like you, I heard her say the staff have been working in full operation.

I think she is amazing also. Really like her and her products. Don't know how she keeps going on, creating new items to sell or projects to be involved in.

No I did not hear her speak on that topic. I watched the show for a minute, but she looked terrible. Her face looked swollen.

I believe that is the Skype cameras. None of the vendors look good! Some look really bad on my TV.

@cbrite I have several of her clothing items and they are made very, very well. I also have some of her garden items and they too are made well. Knowing how picky she is, I never worry about whether or not her items will hold up over the years.

That is encouraging.

You know how some of us were saying we wondered if we actually had it back in dec-feb with that awful flu like thing being more sick than we can ever remember?(but it was not the flu and or no antibiotics helped; the cough that went on forever etc)

It would be great if we now had antibodies, even better if it meant you wouldn't get it again or give it to anyone or if you did get it, it wouldn't be as bad. Anyway, who knows, but hopeful to think of.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but having antibodies does not guarantee that one will never get this virus again. That was what my DD, a virus survivor, was told. With this virus, much is still unknown, so it is certainly best to realize you still may be vulnerable.

Not to burst another bubble but the current antibody test is not specific to which corona virus antibodies you have because it gives too many false positives if you have antibodies to other corona viruses. My doctor says wait to check for antibodies when we have a test that gives more reliable results,

I know a gal who was having a very minor surgery and she said they made her take the test....and it hurt a lot....it was negative she said. But wouldn't that be a negative for that moment in time only?

I thought there was a specific test for covd19 antibodies and doing a search, there are labs that do have the technology to test specfically for covd19, and specifically for other diseases.

They have used those who have recovered from this virus to donate their plasma with some success for treatment.

Still, like everyone has said, we do not know if once someone has antibodies to it that they won't get it again, or won't transmit it to others.

Note:serology tests do test for specific diseases including covd19 but the problem as cited by cdc is that if someone has antibodies to another strain of covd, it could be seen as a false positive for covd19, and also that since this is new, tests are not at all 100% accurate.(and never are of course).

Which as always, leads back to that we can't be sure of anything with this virus, only that it is highly contageous, has no care to who is infected, and the results can be deadly and not just to the old or healthy so again, hopefully everyone is doing what they can to be safe and help others to be also.

The more we all do to protect ourselves AND each other, the safer we will all be as individuals and as a city/state, and country.

@cbrite, Thank you so much for asking about my DD. She is fine. She developed symptoms early on, had to wait 11 days for her test result. Her DH fortunately tested negative. Needless to say, she is still being very careful. She does not know where she contracted this virus. She was so lucky to be able to recuperate at home. We were blessed.
