For God's Sake ... Could they take a minute to acknowledge her death?

This is ridiculous. They have this obnoxious Susan Graver on and they can't take 30 seconds to acknowledge Joan River's death? Shame on them.

What do you expect them to do - break in on the show and make an announcement? I don't think that would be appropriate.

Didn't they acknowledge other long time vendors when they died? Jeanne from Quacker Factory and the nice gentleman who sold jewelry.

Different people tune in, and out, all the time. They can't keep announcing it every ten minutes so that every single viewer is made aware.

Stop and think a minute! They can't let the on-going show host know in the middle of a show, they might fall apart. It may be a four-hour show, and the host doesn't yet know Joan has passed. They must be able to continue working, it's a live broadcast .

Don't be so indignant, and use your brain. They can't just go off-air while a host breaks down, what are you thinking???

Thank you for making the point much better than I did! They may do it between shows, but not in the middle of one - these women on air were friends of Joan!

Thank you, Remee, what a thoughtful comment. I'm actually a little teary-eyed right now, and this post hit me wrong. I'm watching Leah Loves Shoes, and I may be mistaken, but it seems that Leah is not quite her usual "sparkling" self. It's just something on her face...I would imagine that she may have found out during the break. I don't remember seeing her with Joan, but I'm sure she must have known her.

Actually, Shawn found out about Jeanne's death during a break. She said that as they went to a break, the producer pulled her aside, told her Jeanne had passed away and that she had to go on air and make the announcement and bam. The cameras were up and she made the announcement.

I was stunned that is the way it was done.

I'm not outraged (why I did not even use all caps), all I did was reply to Kitty Mom that QVC made a brief on air announcement when other vendors passed.

I remember Mary Beth crying as she talked about Norman Miller....and touching moments as hosts remembered Jeanne Bice....

But the hosts tributes, at least in the case of Jeanne Bice, were done a few weeks after her passing.

I see Jill looking quite subdued and she is dressed in black. She looks sad. Maybe at the end of her show they will mention Joan's passing. Also, I see Jane and shoes coming up later. She will possibly say something. I'm teary and sad and I don't know Joan. I imagine she was close to some of the hosts. I am certain there will be a nice tribute later and some mention of it today

You may not have seen that Jill made a very moving statement just before she started her jewelry show. She and Joan have been good friends for many years...I don't know how she's holding it together as well as she is.

You expect them to break in like a news show and disturb the presentation?

I'm sure they are preparing something heartfelt to be done in the next week or so, but it isn't necessary that it be done the day she died!

Sorry. I think Joan believed "the show must go on" and we honor her by doing, not by stopping the show. I hope other entities with which she was involved can do the same as QVC although I know some will have more difficulty since she was so central there.

In the meantime, my greatest sympathy goes to Melissa and her son. I understand her loss more than I'd like. My mother was also 81 when she died and I was Melissa's age. It felt eerie when I realized the similarity earlier this week.

Hi Spurt,

On your post # 3.....

Who are you referring to in your replies?

Did you mean to type Nolan Miller the famous Couture Designer who died of lung cancer, and is missed so much, and not the name of Norman Miller?

Also did you mean the famous Jewelry Designer Kenneth J. Lane, or was there another person named Kenneth J. Lang on QVC?

If you did mean Kenneth J. Lane, then he is alive, and it was his friend and business associate Barry Ort who suddenly died who we also miss.

Spurt I am just pointing this out because it needs some clarification. People who are alive should not be confused with those who have died. That would be very upsetting in many ways.

Everyone who was associated with QVC while working with them were always acknowledged by QVC. QVC also acknowledged them in a written statement for all to read, but as they say business is business, and the show must go on....and that is also to be expected.

As for Joan Rivers may she also R.I.P., and may her daughter Melissa and grandson Cooper also find comfort and strength, during this very sad time..... but even Joan would say "the show must go on".
