@Bestdressed - UPS often holds SurePost packages for two main reasons: 1) If you have another UPS package en route to your home for delivery within a few days, the lower-service package may be kept at the hub until the next package arrives to consolidate deliveries. This can be a good thing because it means there's no handoff. 2) If your local UPS hub does not receive many SurePost packages in a given timeframe, it may wait until a certain number have arrived before taking them to the USPS office because this saves the company time, labor, and fuel.

They do it because it is "cheaper" for qvc knowing it takes a day at least or more shipping it that way. Why should they care? They already got your money once it's shipped, after that they don't care how long it takes to get to you. That is why I am no longer going to shop at QVC, simply because they don't care for their customers, and their customer service dept newbies are rude and won't let you talk

Many retailers, including QVC, have started using UPS SurePost (and the equivalent FedEx SmartPost) to save money by coordinating services with local USPS branches. I'd expect this practice to increase rather than decrease in the coming years.

It seems to depend on your area as to whether this approach is good or bad—I'm fortunate because in my neck of the woods, UPS and the USPS do a great job with the handoffs, and there is rarely more than one day between a package arriving at the UPS hub and being taken to the USPS hub for final delivery. And that means for QVC packages, I virtually always receive them on or before the Estimated Delivery Date.

I also notice UPS holds onto packages for a few days. I am wondering if they hold packages when there are other packages in transit, maybe trying to combine deliveries. Something is changed and it takes almost 10 days to receive orders...terrible service.

I have looked at a lot of tracking recently and it is NOT USPS who is the holdup for me. Mine usually sits at QVC three days after I order it, it gets to OKC by UPS and sits there a couple of days. THEN when it finally gets to the USPS office from UPS, it's in my mailbox the next day.

I share your feelings. I do not like it when UPS hands the packages to USPS. It always creates a delay of at least 2 days for me. There is one thing you can do, though. There is a service that UPS offers for a fee (I believe it's $39 a year) and it will automatically "upgrade" your packages so that the hand-off never happens. It will be UPS all the way through. I have paid for the service for the past year and I will continue doing it as long as Q uses the hand-off method. It's annoying as heck but they want to use the cheapest way possible to get our packages to us and the tag-team-effort seems to be it.

I see numerous delays by both UPS & USPS. Of course, weather is a big cause. So watch even though it isn't bad in your area.

UPS doesn't work on weekends. If QVC processes packages on Friday, UPS often doesn't pick them up until Monday.

If a package is delivered to my UPS hub on a Friday, it will sit there until Monday.

Just received a notice 3 or 4 days ago from UPS, there was an error in sorting, so it may take a day or two longer to receive my box. The box only had to go 30 miles to my local post office, but went 200 miles north. So, it had to come back again. I have seen boxes go out of state when they were that close to my post office. Careless sorting, putting boxes in wrong trucks.

Another example was a box from Minnesota was put on a truck going west when it should be on one going east. Someone finally caught it. That was almost two weeks delay.

Because of SurePost, some of my packages were delivered on Saturday by the Post Office, Monday, if UPS was delivering or later if UPS was dropping the box off at my post office. .

Sometimes, on tracking, UPS will say they will be in my area so they will deliver the box. It's always a day or two early when they do that.

If you only want UPS to deliver, sign up for My Choice on UPS website, but there will be no delivery on Saturday and it costs $45 a year.

I usually get my deliveries very timely, both from UPS and USPS. When they come from the post office, they arrive in a clean package placed on a chair on my porch. I keep the bags for use with returns. My tracking says "arrived at the post office" and the next day the package is delivered.

When the delivery comes from UPS they arrive in a package that is gritty and looks like it has been run over by a truck (probably the conveyor belt) and the bag goes directly to the trash. They also place the packages on my porch. My UPS delivery people are very polite and friendly and give my dog a treat. He likes them better than USPS.

I don't care who delivers my packages - I have no issues with deliveries. When there is a hold up is "The In Process" time at QVC.

I have mail delivery every day, and it comes to my box out at the curb. They still hold it 2 or 3 days after it should have been here. So why would they hold a pair of earrings for 3 days.? They UPS send my packages to the Post Office and I see them driving by my house. I've been disgusted with this for a long time, because there is not a good reason for it. They are in my neighborhood every single day.
