We gave my Mom some Ryka Fisherman sandals for Mother's Day and she loved them. Mom wears compression stockings and the sandals allow her feet to breathe, which is especially nice with this warmer weather. She wanted more colors and more of her same colors, so I ordered her 8 more pairs. They arrived yesterday and each one was a return that was shipped out to me -- some had loose threads, some had poor stitching with double thread areas, some had a little dirt on the top, some were missing all of the stuffing, some were missing the cardboard inserts, two pairs were placed in white cardboard shoe boxes instead of the pink Ryka shoe boxes, two of the Ryka shoe boxes had holes in them, and all 8 had the "QVC product information identifying return label." So I worried about other people's feet inside of the sandals (although I know Mom will always have her compression stockings on) and was upset at the obvious return situation, so I called QVC customer service and asked Carol if QVC would charge me for the "AS IS" price instead of the "new clean and nice" price and right away she snapped, "No, I can't do that." Nothing else, silence. I said then I would need to call corporate or talk to her supervisor and she said, "Well, corporate is closing in 2 minutes." I said then I needed to talk with her supervisor. She put me on hold and a couple of minutes later came back and said she talked to her supervisor and he said the only thing they could do was credit me back 10%, which was $42.48. I was hoping for a credit of $121.36, which was the full price of $45.92 minus the AS IS price of $30.75 times 8 pairs of shoes which equals the $121.36. I don't want to send them back because Mom really needs these sandals and I think if I make a new order, I may get another set of 8 returned pairs of sandals. Does anyone know if there is anything else I can do? What do you think of this customer service experience? Is this usual regarding returned shoes? I've been shopping at QVC for 18 years now and have had pretty good customer service over the years, so this interchange was a surprise and disappointment.

I would try SC again for a supervisor or go straight to corporate. That is absolutely ridiculous. You paid A LOT of money for NEW shoes and should absolutely NOT be charged full price! Two words for you - Hissy. Fit. Good luck.

Cat: Thank you for your reply! It made me feel that I'm not wrong in being upset!

Here is the information that pops up when you add the AS IS Ryka Fisherman sandals to your cart:

 Acknowledgement

The item that you are about to place in your shopping cart may be a customer return, vendor sample, or on-air display and is not in its originally manufactured condition. It may not be new. In some instances, these items are repackaged by QVC. Accordingly, the manufacturer may not honor any original warranty. However, QVC's standard return policy still applies. If for any reason you are not entirely pleased with this product, simply return the item within 30 days of receipt for full refund of the purchase price. A card will be included in your package explaining these points in greater detail.

Since I received 8 returned sandals, I do think QVC should honor the AS IS price. I received the e-mail from QVC that the $42.48 refund has been processed. Now I think QVC should refund the $78.88 to make the full refund on these returned items $121.36. It would be so nice to come home later tonight and find a phone message or an e-mail from QVC that they are refunding the remaining $78.88. I'm off to help with Mom's care and take her to the dentist this afternoon!

So send them back. The odds of getting 8 returned pairs are probably slim enough that they didn't really believe you. You can try and reorder or just find another place to buy them. I love Ryka sandals myself and buy them here. Knocking on wood I've never got 'used' I probably wouldn't keep them even for a discount.

When you go to a store to try on shoes, are the ones they bring out totally brand-new and never tried on? They most likely have been worn by potential buyers and could have been bought and returned. Unless there is something more seriously wrong than the color of the box or a few loose threads, I think you're being unreasonable. Since you undoubtedly disagree, I guess you should return them. Try Zappo's.
