Homeworx 3-wick "mistake"

While promoting this year's 4-wick candles, Harry Slatkin stated both on air and in a vlog on YouTube that his 3-wick candles, which were presented last year and earlier this year, were a "mistake" on his part, because 3 wicks were not enough to accomondate the size of the candle. He is constantly talking about this "mistake" and how this year's 4-wick version has fixed the problem.

If the creator of these 3-wick candles is plainly stating that they were a "mistake," then why is QVC still selling them? Better yet, why is QVC still selling these 3-wick candles at the same price as the new 4-wick ones? Shouldn't QVC be heavily discounting these old candles if the creator of the brand who has his name on them has bluntly stated that they are defective?

@LolaLasagneMaybe because his company is unwilling to share in reducing the cost to the consumer??? That would be my only guess.

But I have no experience with his line even to know if the 3 wicks are really a problem for every purchaser or if he's just trying to promote sales of a new style. Do you know?

They technically are not defective. Maybe he just added an extra wick because some people made the suggestion or had some kind of complaint about the three wicks. I really don't see the difference one wick would make.

I bought 2 of the 3 wick ones last year. Saying they were a mistake is silly - I don't see a need for 4 wicks except they burn faster and you come back and buy more.

Tried them twice over the years and (must say) I have never been impressed with his candles and the plug-in fresh air things were empty in 20 days - not 30. Homeworx is a gimmick and over priced.

In my opinion - will never never buy more.

I think his candes are not worth the price as mine burned very fast. I still think Bath & Body is stilll the best place to go. He sold his company to them and I don't know if it's the same formula now as before, but I like them and how they burn.

Agree one hundred percent on the candles themselves. I don't know what I was expecting, but I can't smell them. Have several of his silver holders with candles, and they are gorgeous, but haven't bothered lighting them.

I think what happened was since Homeworx candles were larger than what he did at B&BW, 4 wicks would do better at releasing the scent than 3 wicks. I tried the 4 wicks and were pleased with them. The scents I chose were nice, they burned evenly, no drowning wicks. The burn time was good too!! Remember Homeworxs candles are larger than B&BW too!!! Maybe I was lucky and picked the right scents for the Homeworx brand.....

Since Harry left Bath, and Body Works the candles there arent the same---talk about burning fast--your supposed to let candles burn 3 hours the first time you light them to release the scent, but with BBW at 3 hours that candle is DONE! Also problems with drowning wicks or unevenburning of wax and there are no drafts where I burn my candles. Unless you have a coupon I think its B&BW candles that are no longer worth their price!!!

And I dont want to hear anyone talk about Walmart candles---no scent but a lot of soot-- you get what you pay for -

I don't buy any candle w/more than one wick. I bought a two wick once and couldn't believe how fast it burned. I decided to burn just one wick every other time and it worked, but I never bought another one.

I know why Harry makes four wick.......so you have to buy them more frequently. I don't care for Harry or his candles. They are very pricey, I don't think they smell any better and the four wick is a no no.

I have his three wick candles and they burn fine. It just takes a while for the wax pool to build and then the candle seems to clear itself with any wax build up on the side (if it exists.) Slatkin candles burn clean fo rme and are the only ones I can use because of my allergies.I do think he reads his reviews as he states and discovered the "error" with the larger candle and surface burn area. He corrected it so I'm fine with it. It's the same to me as the "new and improved " version of any other product that I purchase.

@Fressa I agree. In fact, if Harry had said that these are a slightly improved scent and burn because of the 4-wicks, his comment wouldn't be an issue at all. I purchased four of his 3-wick candles and 3 out of the 4 were sensational. The 4th had no scent at all and was a major disappointment.

So I would think he has certain scents that definitely need 4-wicks. That doesn't mean the 3-wicks were at all a universal mistake. Case in point, Frozen Balsam and Winter Fireside are the best scents (I have the 3-wick versions) and evenly burned candles I have ever experienced.

I'm on advanced order or more Winter Fireside (4-wick version) when it can be delivered. He said it's not going to burn faster, but more evenly. Again, I never had a problem with the 3-wick, so I'm happy either way.

I don't typically like food-scented candles, so I have less of a variety from which to choose out of all candles.
