Anyone miss the hard copy Insider?

I sure do. I don't keep track of my sales by month or year. But I have to be buying less, not planning ahead for certain TSV's, especially near Christmas. And the beauty stuff, catching Friday nite beauty shows on commercials of DH's shows, just isn't doing it. If it were not for this board, I'd probably be buying zero. You guys let me know what's good. We only have one TV and our deal is I don't make him watch shopping channels and he doesn't make me watch car restorations.

@depglass, I absolutely miss it! When it first started, it was a $12 subscription and I felt that it was well worth the money. I sure enjoyed it more than some of these magazines that come to the house. I think too many people complained about the price.

Although I did enjoy it, I find that my almost daily emails from QVC keep me apprised of upcoming specials, TSV's, presale items, etc. So, these days I don't lament not having the hard copy. It was nice while it lasted, but I have moved on.

@World Traveler, I get the e-mails also, but the Insider had lots of things in it, including recipes, that are not sent in an e-mail. I looked forward to having my copy to read over for a week and make decisions without worrying about a time frame.

Yes,I do!! The new online version is completely different.I miss all the TSV’s that we could check out & pre order.

I have no idea why QVC fixed something that wasn’t broken.Yet leaves things alone that actually need fixing!!

I always enjoyed the hard copy, but can't say that I now miss it. As to the on-line version.....I never look at it.

Lucky you!

I have always received all QVC emails for over 20 years until about a year ago and repeated emails to the Social Team, who escalated my problem to the IT Dept., I still only get the TSV, order confirmations and 'shipped' emails.

No one can figure out why, since I'm signed up for all of them.

My email service is not blocking them either.

So I definitely miss the hardcopy Insider.

@KingstonsMom That's really weird.....why you are not getting the other emails. Sometimes I get two to three different emails in a day about various things. Sometimes it is to let me know there will be easy pay on certain items (beauty, skin care, etc.). Other times it is a reminder that a special will be ending soon (items that are on special for a certain month).

Wonder what would happen if you set up another account, as a new customer, requesting the emails in your preferences? Probably not what you would want to do, but would be interesting to see what happens.

It is probably to save money. I used to work for a publisher of three monthly magazines. The cost to print and mail thousands and thousands of magazines is quite high, even at bulk rates.

Unlike the regular magazines in the stores where the advertisers offset the cost of mailing, the Insider did not have any outside vendors advertising; QVC was doing the advertising for them by mentioning them and showing their products.

And then there were probably people telling them how many trees they were killing by printing all those magazines. Who knows? But, I definitely think it was a way to cut down on costs.

One thing about getting all the emails I do from QVC about upcoming shows, their information is up-to-date. Sometimes the Insider had information that had been changed by the time the magazine got to me. Not a lot, but sometimes.

I miss it too. It reduced my impulse buys, so it turns out to be a good thing for me.

Yea I miss it. I was getting it for free and at this point would pay them $12 a year for it. No matter what I do, I can't get email notifications about anything other than order confirmation and shipping information. It wasn't always like this - one day I dropped out of the system even though my preferences didn't change. I can't remember which moderator was going to look into it for me, that was many months ago.

In the long run it saves me money, so I guess as Martha would say, It's a Good Thing.

@ @World Traveler I understand your point except for one thing.Aside from the mailing they also put the same version of the magazine online.They could have done away with the mailings & kept the same online format. That would have been a better compromise than what we have now.

I find that QVC consistently puts the customer at a disadvantage.

No.... I liked getting it but I didn't really miss it when it stopped. I suppose because I didn't need it. Same with the online version, I liked that but now that it's gone, I don't miss it.

@NicksmomESQ Good point! Well said. Yes, that is an absolutely GREAT compromise!

When I was getting the hard copy I could also view it online, but preferred the hard copy to not only look at and page thru, but I would give it to friends for them to order ahead. Something about looking at a computer screen all day for my job and then come home and look at the computer screen to see the online copy of the Insider was not what I wanted to do. So I really looked forward to the hard copy. Liked physically having it in my hands.

But right now, I would "settle" for having the online copy of the original Insider format on the computer! Excellent point. Go to the head of the class!

Yes, I really enjoyed it and from it planned on many purchases. I love the internet but never take the time to go and look.... just don't care...

The magazine was a constant reminder by my chair.... because of that I believe they made a huge mistake cancellingthe hard copy.

Kind of like Currents. I order all the time from them and know they are on-line. But it's their little catalog that I pour over from my chair prior to getting on my laptop to order.

I miss it & am pretty sure my ordering is down since they stopped sending it. Plus I used to share the info with friends & family who also ordered. Most of these people seldom, if ever, ordered from QVC. I wish they would bring it back. I used to look forward to receiving it.
