Yes! It's been 10 years or so, but received shots into the area of the thumb/wrist and had immediate results. The area was numbed first and then the medicine was injected. Want to say cortisone, but it's been a while and I'm not sure.

While it did hurt for a few minutes, the relief was so worth it! The pain had affected my ability to function at work and after the treatment, no problems. I should mention, after all this time, I'm beginning to have some discomfort again so will be going back to the doctor for another treatment.

Don't let the dread prevent you from having the injections. It's worth it!

YES! Years ago. (Nobody who hasn't had it has ever heard of it!) First one wrist and then the other. Cortisone shots did nothing for me. I ended up having surgery on both wrists. Not a difficult surgery and something of a miracle because it totally fixes the problem. No more pain. Before the surgery I would ask my secretary to go with me to the cafeteria at work to hold my diet coke because I never knew when my wrist would just give out. I was in a Hallmark store -- picked up a box of cards to look at them -- and the next thing I knew they were all on the floor. If you are having a lot of pain -- I would strongly recommend the surgery. I am so glad that I did it.

This is a strange and annoying situation- the exact place on the wrist is super uncomfortable but as long as I don't hit it or move it the wrong way, it's manageable.

It is said to occur often in moms, and I'm quite sure lifting my chubby grand baby is part of the problem.

And NO WAY ON EARTH am I planning to stop doing THAT!

I had the problem in both wrists at different times. I'm hypothyroid and always have some sort of ligament or tendon issue. This developed right after my grandson was born, and I was picking him up a lot.

I went to a hand specialist. He gave me a cortisone shot which did nothing but give me a cortisone flare. Then he recommended surgery. But said that he wanted to do a thumb joint replacement at the same time, as I have arthritis. My arthritis isn't bad. I just think the simple tenosynovitis surgery wasn't worth his time. I never went back.

Instead, I found a physical therapist who specialized in hand treatments. The treatments worked perfectly for that and the trigger thumb I also developed. A year later I developed the same issues in my other wrist and had successful physical therapy again. It's been 4 years now and no more problems.
