Got my treadmill this past fall and have been working on it five days a week. Now that it has gotten warmer, some days I just walk Story a one hour walk and a shorter one in the afternoon. For months I saw no change, but FINALLY my pants are hanging on me. I can take a handful of material on both sides of my hips and pull it straight out. My waistline is smaller, but still working on it at my age. Very happy with my results so far. My eating habits have changed because of the exercise I think - snacking much less. It will only get better as the days warm and I can get outside more. It's pretty normal that my results take time. So don't get frustrated, your body needs time to get used to the change.

Patience is the key to long term rehabilitation from a major physical health issue or long term weight loss and control, and improving one's physical fitness level.

Most want results yesterday. Fast and quick does not work, long term, for rehab/weight or physical fitness. Sticking with a short term goal is a good beginning. Then set the next reasonable short term goal, and go from there.

Checking weight too often when on a weight loss program has been the downfall of many and leads to disappointment and less confidence, then the "I don't have as much will power as xyz".

Being confident/dedicated/patient and determined I have found are generally the best path to reaching ones goal(s).

hckynut(john)

@hoosieroriginal, Excellent! I'm very happy for you! A lot of people get frustrated too soon if they don't see results by the week or even day.... which is why I rarely get on a scale and just go by how my clothes fit to know I'm where I should be.

@JeanLouiseFinch, I also had a problem with my Achilles on the treadmill. I learned that a treadmill in its base position is never completely flat even though it may appear to be flat -- there is always a slight incline at the front, so even an inch or two of incline causes your ankles to be slightly flexed with every step; thus, the strain on the Achilles. Also, walking on a moving belt is very different from walking outside in terms of how the muscles and tendons are affected. If the weather allows you to get outside, that's the way to go. :-)
