Mobic - Did it help?

Has anyone had good results for bursitis on Mobic? My doctor prescribed it for my hip pain. She gave me Ultram for pain, but it doesn't help and she won't put nor do I want to go on a narcotic pain reliever. Other than getting more cortizone shots, that I can't afford right now, this is the only other thing she can do. Did it help you?

Mobic didn't help my arthritis at all. My sister takes it, though, and thinks it's great. I also have a friend who says it helps her.

I took it for bursitis and, yes, it helped. I have problems taking any Nsaids.

My doctor prescribes a cream that is meloxicam (mobic) and lidocaine and it works as well. You take less meds and it doesn't go through your digestive system

Hope you find relief. Bursitis is brutally painful.

Thank you! I have Lidocaine (spelling?) patches and Voltaren cream to rub on for the pain and they help for the first few hours after application but not through the night. I can put the cream on every four hours but that means getting up during the night to reapply.

i have ms and they gave me mobic didnt do much. altram is basiclly the same thing. i think one is generic.what i take now that really helps with pain is tramadol. i take 3 a day. 50 millagram. i use to take like 12 advil a day now just that tramadol works good. good luck.

Hip bursitis can be so bad, I tried Mobic and it didn't touch the pain. I went about four months ago and had both my hips shot up; relief!!

I had surgery on my wrist and was prescribed mobic for pain...... All it did was relax me, the pain remained.

Mobic was great for my knee injury, but did nothing for my bursitis, sciatica or muscle spasms in my neck.

The best thing for my bursitis is prescription Naproxin 500 mg. Aleve does nothing for me and it's not technically the same as the sodium ratio is off. I need the good stuff.

I've been put on Mobic before too once, did nothing for me at all. So I complained and then got on Percocet. That knocked me out then all I did was sleep. It was the best sleep ever.

I've used mobic (generic name=meloxicam) for back pain. It is most certainly an NSAID, just like Aleve or Naprosyn, etc. One thing you must be careful is not to not use Voltaren cream at the same time -- Voltaren has an NSAID in it, and although it has less an impact on the digestive system, when combined with an oral NSAID, it can lead to stomach problems, even bleeding. The same goes for pain rubs that have aspirin in them, like Aspercreme.

Have you done any physical therapy for your hip bursitis? It's the only thing that helped me.

Hi Sammycat, yes I've tried PT, but with my high deductible insurance I can't afford it for long. It runs between $80 - $100 per visit and they want me to come 3 times per week. I don't have $300 a week for PT. However, they did give me a list of exercises/stretches to do at home,, which I do before bedtime.

Thanks for all the responses/information. @Sammycat1 Thanks for reminding me to not use the Voltaren with the Mobic. I did the first night and then realized I was doubling up on the NSAIDS so i stopped using it. I think I'm getting a little relief from the Mobic, but the biggest thing I've started doing is taking 2 Tramadols when I get home from work around 5:00. If we go anywhere, my son can drive so it's okay if I'm a little groggy. I get up to to take Mercy out for her last potty break around 11:00 so I've started taking 2 more then. Between the 2 in early evening and 2 later at night, I'm getting some relief. Not pain free but I can lay on my sides. Another thing I did was purchased from Amazon a cold/hot wrap that's large and actually wraps around my hip area. It lets me ice my hips, each side for about 20 minutes for bed. That has really helped and has turned out to be a great purchase. This bursitis thing is not fun! The coritzone shots work great, but they are still a short-term fix.

Yes, it worked for me but so does Aleve, so I don't take Mobic anymore.

@MercysMom, I'm glad you're getting some relief. When I had the hip bursitis, it had been caused by my entire gait changing after total knee replacement. It hurt like heck and was tough to get rid of -- best wishes for less pain as soon as possible!
