Hi there, I myself do have it, basically I have slow motility in my stomach which means food is really slow to move and sit in my stomach a long time, over the 4 hours the doctors had me in for a study. It can be painful. Abdominal surgeries and meds, including narcotics can also contribute. Anything high fiber would give me pain. I was on a med call donperidone, not FDA approved, but could be compounded in a pharmacy, a little pricy, I would take 2 capsules 1/2 hour prior to eating each meal or snack. It really helped with the pain. But the more research I did I found It was really diet for me. No rough veggies, nothing high in sugar, no bran muffins(good god). I increased exercise and drink more water , no alcohol. Once I learned how to control it, I came off a good amount of medicines and really felt much better. I had to do a lot of work on my own, foods were trial and error, and I did get guidance from a nutritionist. I hope this helps, I can only tell you my side, as I imagine others have different experiences. Good luck to you!

However like many other diseases, what I take is totally different from what other Crohns patients take and I think that is why so many might be hesitant to answer your question, they don't want to tell you or the person you might be asking for what to take in case they are intolerant to it. Many times the same dr could prescribe 10 patients 10 different drugs to use because of other medicines they may be on that don't go well with that drug they would like to prescribe.

Also, probiotics are usually a safe bet to help with a lot of stomach problems too. They don't cure any disease but are really helpful for a lot of GI problems and overall GI health and help with your immune system.

I know that my husband was checked for this condition, but not diagnosed with it. He is at higher risk, due to being diabetic for nearly 20 years.

As explained to us by his PA and gastroenterologist at the VA, this condition develops when the muscles in the stomach essentially slow down, or stop functioning to no longer move food out of the stomach into the intestines, leaving the food to rot inside the stomach.

I clearly understood the two doctors to say there are medications that can help, depending on the stage of the condition. I think some of the early treatment involves enzymes and medications that are geared to chemically stimulate contraction of the muscles to move the food normally through the digestive process. Surgery was mentioned in advanced/extreme conditions.

My husbands testing process started and ended with an EGD, as there was no food found in his stomach.
