I've read pros and cons.

My two biggest concerns are will it hurt the tops of my feet (I have issues from RA on the top of right foot) - and how much space do they take up, and weigh? He wants me to leave it out so that I'll use it every day.

Thank you!

I defintely don't want that coming back.

My biggest concerns when DH chiro wanted him to get one is

1. Make sure you dont have high blood pressure because being inverted you increase the pressure in your head...could cause bursting of a blood vessel

2. To make sure one doesnt have even a small anuerysm. Imagine all that pressure in the head.

I didnt get him one as he has blood pressure issues. Dont want to scare you but anything that increases intercranial pressure is a consideration.

I have had an inversion table for at least 15 years and it has helped me immensely. I do not fully invert and you can set it only as far as you would like to invert, you can start off very small and still feel a huge difference. The first time you do feel some pressure in your head but it's not too bad unless you are congested or have a cold. The more you invert, the more benefits. I now use it when I feel stress, something is activated in the brain for me when I invert and it immediately relaxes me. I begin to fall asleep on it that's how comfortable it is once you use it daily. I also had very bad back pain at one time but usung it daily completely eliminated the back and neck pain. The new ones now have excellent padding on the feet, mine does not but I wear tennis shoes that are cushioned so it does not bother me at all. I have also had knee issues and it doesn't bother my knee at all. I cannot say enough about the benefits and the ease of use. The newer units are also more stable with rubber feet and again, you can invert just slightly at first and work up to a deeper inversion. I am only on it 3-5 minutes a day and it is Wonderful!

I have mine in the living room.

@PilatesLover

I agree with @Stormygirl, you would be wise to discuss this with your Medical Doctor(PCP). While I really believe in inversion, for those very healthy and on no prescription meds. I have had 3 ruptured spinal discs surgically removed, so I am quite familiar with back and sciatic pain.

Many life threatining events might could be possible, and in my opinion, not worth the risk. If you do decide on an Inversion Table? Teeter is the only one I would even consider.

hckynut(john)

We have a Teeter Hangs Up in the spare bedroom. If you push it into one corner against the wall it takes up a 5' x 2.5' area. I don't know the measurements of the other brands on the market. We don't leave ours against the wall to the side by push it back so we just have to pull it out a bit to get on it.

DH uses it more then I do. I get on it when my neck starts hurting.

It does not hurt the tops of my feet but I don't have RA. I do wear tennis shoes when I get on it. I would not do it barefoot.

Does your chiropractor have one you can try before buying one?

I used an inversion for years and felt great but then I cracked my ankle and had to stop then I had torn miniscus so I haven't used for a long time. There are inversion recliners that give you the same benefits as full inversion.

I have no BP problems but my DH does - I will never let him get on one, if I do get it.

I'll start by asking on Facebook if any of my local friends have one I can try out. If I like it, I'll run it by my GP first.

I have had a Teeter for 5+ years. I had cervical fusion and to date I have been able to avoid lumbar surgery. I got the permission of my surgeon first. I tether my table at about 60 degrees and only stay on it for a few minutes at a time. I can feel the release as my spine decompresses. I can set my table at any incline that works that day. I have scoliosis and I bounced down 15 concrete steps in 2000. My spine was damaged top to bottom. Replacing C4 thru C7 and fusion was done in 2008 and that took care of massive headaches 24/7. I did not like the odds on either top or bottom surgery. Top came out well but I am not yet ready to test the odds for the lower. Inversion has helped me keep walking and decrease my pain. I am a widow of 72 and live alone. I use my table only for decompression. The chiropractor and later PT gave me temporary relief by using a stretching table. Insurance only paid for 2 months each time and took about 3 hours travel and appointment. I purchased the Teeter after getting approval from 2 spinal surgeons in 2 large cities. They said it would help but with my age and history don't do it for extended times and don't do the extreme exercises. I just " hang" around a couple of times per week. My cats think it is fun to grab my flowing hair and give a yank. It is a relaxing and fun few minutes for all 3 of us. To date my blood pressure and all my meds have not been a problem nor has my arthritis in major joints. My joints seem to like the relaxation.

My husband has been watching the Teeters infomercials and thinks that would be the thing he needs to relieve his lower back pain. I told him that he cannot use an inversion table due to his high blood pressure and because he had a brain bleed several years ago.

His PCP ordered a TENS unit for him. It would probably help him except that he has a pacemaker. We talked to his Cardiologist about using TENS with a pacemaker and he said not to do it. I read thru the instruction manual and it said in 3 different places that TENS should not be used with a pacemaker.

I used Teeters inversion table in the past and really liked it but due to my BP problems, I won't use one now.

The TENS works for me and I am happy to have the temporary relief that it provides.

I had an older version of a teter but gave it away. Not because I didn't love it to it didn't help but because it hurt my ankles. Ouch. I do believe the NEW ones are padded. Only problem is affording them on my disability check now. I'd love it now cos my back is worse. Boy do I need it and so does my neck. I need one of those adjustable beds too. The number kind. Yesssss.

Someday i hope. Not for pleasure BUT FOR MY HEALTH. I'm a very sick girl in a lot of pain more than just my back. But I have blessings too because things could be soooooo much worse.........I have all my body parts..........ya know........

the he teter is the one I would endorse it's the best!!"

I've read pros and cons.

My two biggest concerns are will it hurt the tops of my feet (I have issues from RA on the top of right foot) - and how much space do they take up, and weigh? He wants me to leave it out so that I'll use it every day.

Thank you!

@PilatesLover- If you get one, get a Teeter - they are the Best! I got one because the last time I went to my chiropractor he hyperextended my neck and I couldn't turn my head to the left for weeks! I have mine in my spare bedroom. To be honest - most of my adjustment occurs when I barely invert on it - so don't think you have to go completely vertical to get an adjustment. I got the cheaper model on HSN and I put it together very quickly (I'm in my 60s). It is not that heavy. I swear by this piece of equipment and will always have it in my life. I have high blood pressure but take meds and like I said, I never go completely upside down and I can still feel my spine adjusting. Do not get a cheap model - I almost did and I'm so glad I got a Teeter! I also have scoliosis. Also, I have a disc missing in my lower back and it feels like my lower back puts pressure on my hips. It is fabulous!

@NYwoman I have 2 hip replacements. I bought an inversion table several years ago before I had my hips replaced, and it worked great for my back, but I stopped using it when my hips started hurting badly, and now I won't use it at all ever again because of the hip replacements. It's just not a great idea.

It takes quite a bit of room, and I leave mine in the basement. I should probably sell it or donate it though. It's a serious waste of space at this point.

I love mine but it aggravated my reflux and hiatal hernia. I have pretty skinny ankles, but that's the one place I don't have joint issues. It did hurt a little, but I never hang that long. It doesn't seem to bother anyone else's ankles in my family. You can just go back slightly, and you can "pump" back and forth. They talk about that on the video as benefitting the joints. I think I'm going to try mine again and not invert that far. (But ahh I love to hang completely upside down). It feels so good to decompress the spine.

We recently moved and have a ton of exercise equipment. Downsized some. I'm not going to worry about what it looks like I guess. I'll probably have to put a few pieces in the formal LR. I hate it (we had a huge exercise room before) but hey, you have to live in your house. If you're going to use it, I wouldn't worry about having it set up.
