Yes when I was a teen I had one and at that time they cut it out. When my daughter was a teen and had one the dermatologist put acid on it over the course of several appointments.

I've had several in my life. My advice is to go to a foot doctor and get it taken care of as soon as possible. They don't go away by themselves and they grow deeper into your foot and that makes it more difficult to remove.

The last one I had took several treatments and got to be very painful to walk.

The over the counter stuff doesn't get to the root and it will grow back.

These warts are a virus in your body and they can be spread to others in your home. You should wear socks and don't go barefoot until it's taken care of.

I tried lots of things to get rid of mine at home. I probably spent at least $100 on freezing kits, tried various salicylic acids for wart removal, tried the duct tape method, super glue, I can't remember what else.

The only thing that worked was apple cider vinegar.

I used apple cider vinegar, soaked a piece of cotton a little bigger than the wart, squeezed the excess vinegar out of the cotton and taped the cotton over the wart using waterproof first aid tape. I would do this in the evening. Then I would remove it in the morning so that I could put my work shoes on and go off to work. (If I had a day off, I'd just leave it on.) The next night I'd scratch away the dead surface cells with tweezers and repeat the same process with the vinegar. Eventually the vinegar ate down to the roots and killed them. There was some discomfort while I was doing this, but it wasn't like I had to take a pain reliever or anything. I knew I'd gotten to the roots when I saw what looked like little dark slivers or threads under my skin. Once I was able to scratch the dead roots out of my skin (using tweezers), I knew I was done.

My foot looked gross over the course of treatment (pits where the ACV had been applied, and white and yellow skin around the area, from the ACV). However, my foot has healed nicely, and you cannot tell I ever had any plantar warts.

@goldensrbest

I am glad you posted this topic, I am an "expert" on planter's warts. This posting will be very detailed and I hope it helps you. My husband has planter's warts on both his feet. I have been with him over 20 years and I can share all we tried.

History: 20+ years back when I met my husband he had a slight limp at times, I took him ot a podiarist, and we were young and not experienced with doctors, did not right down the "name" of the issue, did not have parnt involvement, we just did as told by the docotr. He had a foot surgery on him to remove the "issue" which at the time I thought it was a permanet fix. The planters warts did return over time.

Now fast forward 15 years, the issue is back, and this time we are older and wiser. The problem started when my husband was saying his ankle hurts, we did not know, that was the planters warts causing the pain.

Pain - My husband works in a grocery store and is on his feet all day. I buy him propet walking shoes and also put insoles in his shoes. The warts effected him so much, he was almost limping, also the pain shoots up into your ankle and calf if untreated and it just gets WORST.

Plan of Action:

We tried every rumored idea, natural XYZ, over the counter, my grandmother said do this and that.....NOTHING WORKS. Then one day I thought maybe you should go back to the doctor. What worked was going to the two things.

1) My husband started going to the Podiatrist. again, this time we are older, wiser, and I went in the back and sat with my husband and the doctor so I could fully understand the issue. That is when I learned, he had planters warts.

So I recommend that you go to the doctor, my husband does NOT have a copay so if you have insurance you might not as well.

What Happens at the Doctor:

At the doctor, the pod. uses special tools and cut the planter's wart down. The effect is that my husband does not feel the pain of the wart. They also put a bandaid type protection and medication on the item. This helps him SO MUCH he has NO PAIN. He goes every 5-6 weeks.

Apple CIder Vineger does help:

i can confirm that this helps. How can I confirm this???

My husband and I started using apple cider vinegar for other health benefits. Well I can confirm that the ACV has helped my husband's planter's warts. They have helped reduce the size of the warts and he does not have to go to the doctor as frequently.

How he uses:

My husband does not soak his feet in the ACV, he gets any drink, apple juice, orange juice, and adds 2 tablespoons of ACV, YOU MUST DRINK IT WITH A STRAW.

How much drink - 6 oz, you must use a straw, you must rinse your mouth after drinking the ACV is strong, also he puts a splenda pack in the drink to soften the strong taste.

He has been drinking this for at least 6 months, and the wart on his left foot has reduced in size so much that now, when he goes to the pod. that foot is not the main focus.

SO my first recommendation is GO TO THE DOCTOR, second recommendation, go to the doctor on a regular schedule, every 5-6 weeks, every month, you will now when to schedule your appointments based on your wart needs.

That was the mistake my husband made not going on a regular basis.

Second recommendation, start to drink the ACV it will help but don't think it will replace the doct. it won't. I hope this helps.

Years ago, before over-the-counter treatments, you had to go to the doctor but now the simple meds you pick up at your local drugstore are potent enough to remove them.

I had on on the instep of my right foot. I was about 10. I guess I had pain when I walked on it.....can not remember all the details. The doctor did some kind of freezing it and burning it off and out. They tend to go deep and have roots....if you do not get it all out it could grow back....and if you leave it, they tend to spread. It only hurts a small amount when they remove it...they numb it up real good.

@SeaMaiden

Yikes ..... I didn't know they have roots .... do you happen to know what caused them?

I believe they are from a virus.

Yes, I had a plantar wart a few years ago that I believe I got from a pedicure at a nail salon. I didn't even know it was a wart, it just looked like a callous along the line of my little toe and it hurt. I had to go to my dermatologist quite a few weeks for her to freeze it and file it off until we got to the end of the root. It was painful in my shoes. Needless to say, I now go to an expensive salon that uses sterilized tools and hands you the file and buffers when you leave.

The wart virus lives in moist environments like showers and gyms. They haven't mutated greatly over the years so they will be round and flattened over time on the soles of feet.

If you go the route of the non prescription liquids be sure to take an emery board and lightly file over it to expose the surface to the acid. It will take a while to do this ( over 3 months or more).

A podiatrist can either use prescription strength acids or minor surgery to excise it.

My son got one not long after he started middle school and showering after athletics. His pediatrician said it would not go away and sent us to a Podiatrist. That Dr. wanted to do surgery to remove and I said I would be in touch. We kept using the reg. wart remover by Dr. Scholl's and after a couple of weeks it was gone. That was about 22 years ago and he has never had another one. Glad we took a shot on over the counter options before medical advice.
