@hckynut @qualitygal OK, I made it back home! What a production line!

OK, so I got a call last night to come in instead of 1:15 come in 12:15. So, I called my daughter and we got there at about 11:50AM, now pay attention here!

So, I signed in and about 20 minutes later she put the band on my arm, I signed my life away and told them I was Catholic (doesn't that always make you feel great?) Ha!

My daughter and I figure "Wow....Here we go!" NO!....we sat back down. The a little while later I got sent to the back and put on the gown...then my daughter came back. In and out people came into my little curtain drawn room (I could hear that the large room was filled with patients having the same thing).

Time goes by and my daughter (who has 4 children still in 4 schools) tells me she is getting texts from all of them (and her husband who's TRYING to work from home with the 3 year old boy) going crazy.....there's always a crisis! Ha!

Keep moving forward.......I won't bore you with anymore but I will say that I finally went in to the have the procedure at 4:00. Yepper, 4:00! I asked if there were emergencies, she said, "No", just busy. The Dr leaves for a 2 week vacation and he's trying to get as much done as he can."

It took 15 minutes and I was back home by 5:20. What a day!

I drove my friend when she had her's and she complained because she had to wait 45 minutes! Ha!

It is what it is right?

Oh! So, if I got asked once I must have been asked maybe 4 (at least) times how I was able to avoid coming in for this thing at the age of 70! Good grief! I said, "I wouldn't be in here now except I'm a Mom, I love my daughters more than anything. They lost their Dad and since I had the Diverticulitis attack they are constantly worried. I never want them to worry about me. This is one thing I can do so they don't worry."

I admit was feisty because I wasn't able to take my arthritis medicine for days before (remember my bum knees?) and to me that was the bad part of all of this. Laying on that hard table for so long waiting caused my back to go 'crazy'.

Here's something that really bothers me. He TOLD my daughter (I never saw him again) that my gut is 'inflamed' but it looks OK. So, I'm wondering just what in the HAY did my gut feel after he ran that scope around all 6 ft of it! I always knew it wasn't quite right because my daughter has Crohn disease and the Dr said probably either my husband or I did. We knew he didn't so......

Anyway @hckynut John I adore you. I appreciate you sharing with all of us everything you've been through. While I was laying on that bed waiting to get poked I told people I know someone (sorry, I said I know you) who has had over 20 of these things! It reset my attitude on my arthritis pain John!

If I could make suggestions to this Drs staff I would say, "Stop telling people you'll see them again and they'll be back to have more". That's not something someone wants to hear.

That's kind of like telling a woman who's just popped out a baby, "Guess what! You're pregnant again". Ha!

Love you guys. So now you don't have to hear about me and THIS medical issue. Stay tuned I'm sure there's more to come.

Don't you guys wish I had a life instead of coming here and boo hooing?

Is this called 'over-sharing'?

So tomorrow I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow. I usually only eat one real meal a day (early dinner).

I do eat something like an English Muffin in the morning, sometimes.

I can't taste anything or smell much so I don't have much apetite.

But here's the funny thing about the brain.....because I can't eat today (except clear broth) green or yellow jello. I'm suddenly very hungry.

I mean, I woke up thinking about food. I don't work so I'm home around all of this food and normally I could care less about eating it. However, today, everything looks amazing!

I just think it's funny the difference now that my mind knows I can't eat, it is suddenly very important to me. Ha!

Oh Annabelle..I go in about a month. I'm just thinking of it as a temp blimp in my normal day. But I know what you're saying. But after tomorrow, just a few hours away, you can eat more. You've probably eaten pretty lightly for this and you're a tad hungry. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll love ya, tomorrow...........sing to the food. Good luck. What time tomorrow do you get yours done?

Good for you for getting this exam done. I had three done, and the prep made my stomach upset so I wasn't real hungry. That gallon of stuff also filled me up. But after the procedure was done and I got in the car to go home, I felt ravenous. Each time I had to stop at Wendy's and get a chicken sandwich, fries, chocolate shake. Not weight conscious, but filled the hole. I really wanted to stop at a mexican restaurant, but the Dr. didn't recommend that.

I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I have an appointment with the doctor that's going to perform my first colonoscopy on Tuesday. I think it's just a consultation and I'll find out when I'm going to have the procedure done. I like to eat so I don't know how I'm going to handle not eating.

About five weeks ago I went to the doctor for a rash on my lower leg. I hadn't been to a doctor in about ten years. It turned out to be ringworm. I'm using a prescription cream that seems to control the fungus but it's not doing a good job of getting rid of it. Anyway, from that first doctor visit I got a flu shot, had a mammogram, got an appointment for a colonoscopy consultation, had blood work done, and now I'm taking medications for cholesterol & high blood pressure and started exercising. The funny part about it is the ringworm hasn't been eradicated but at least I'm getting my other issues taken care of.

My total nutritional intake for 17 days was orange Jello and apple juice, and of course the gallon of GoLytely the day before each of my Colonoscopies, which at times were only 2 days later?

Since I had fasted for 2 days many times just to give my digestive system a break, was an issue, the day of or the day after. What bothered me the most? When the food truck went by and the smell of coffee. I am not a big coffee drinker, 1 cup per day, but that was the hard part for me.

Now having recently went through my 20th colon procedure, I mentioned in another thread how I had to play "mental Trickery" with myself in order to finish the last few glasses of my gallon of GoLytely. Never got hungry, never not able to hold down my many gallons of GoNuLytely.

I was able to trick my brain into thinking of something other than GoNuLytely, maybe because i have a small brain, beats me. I only know it worked for me in 2008/2009/2011/2012 , and more recently, about 6 weeks ago when the bleeding started once again.

I like to believe I can control my brain and my thoughts, and so far I think I am winning the battle.

Hope all goes well with your procedure,

hckynut(john)

@qualitygal I googled to see what else I could do to make this less ugh! One thing I thought about because I don't like beef or chicken broth (those cubes or cans) I called the Dr and asked if I strained (with the tiny holes metal strainer) Chicken Noodle Soup and I added water to thin it even more. The nurse said, "Yes" just make sure there isn't anything in it. There wasn't. I strained it 2 times. I wanted to make sure there was a little something other than just Ginger Ale, juice, etc.

I wanted to make sure the electrolites weren't messed up by not eating.

Every Dr is different. Mine said I can drink Pepsi (which I am a Pepsi w/Real sugar drinker, so that helps.

It's drinking the stuff that is going to be wicked. I read where a Dr said you could flavor it with Gumi Bears! I wouldn't trust it though!

My friend's husband squirted some lemon juice in it. I might do that. I also read where some people make it very cold and it kills the flavor and also to drink it through a straw.

Anyway, text me when it's your turn.

@Annabellethecat66....I wish you the best regarding your test tomorrow. Personally, I am really turned off by the media and doctors who push tests and RX's, instilling fear in people. I watch very little TV, but DH has it on almost 24/7. "Call your doctor", "Take this, take that". Good grief. They push tests and drugs to make money. Just my opinion, but I for one don't buy into it. I'm 65. I'm old. I'm not trying to live to be 100. I figure when my purpose in life is fulfilled, the Lord will take me. I am not on any medications at the present time and hope to keep it that way as long as I can.
