He said if I go for the mini that probably in a few years I may need the total replacement but if I get a total replacement now it will last for ever. It seems an easy decision to have the total procedure BUT there is a financial aspect. If i have the mini I can have both done at once and go home in a day or two- if i have the total it will be a four days at best in the hospital each time. Our insurance requires I pay $300/day deductible for every day in the hospital up to 7 days. So mini proc - max 2 days $600 total vs. max proc $1200 each knee. at best.
