FItbit HR and New Computer set up Question

My old PC died that was used to set up my Fitbit HR. I now have a MacBook Air. I can't find any instructions on site about how to do switchover . Does the Dongle automatically recognize computer and Fitbit? I am still floundering around with getting used to Mac instead of PC, so don't want to just plug in dongle and have snafu. Thank you for any information! Susi.

Yes, just plug the dongle in. All the data is stored on the FitBit website, so that's all you need to do.

if you sync your fitbit with your phone you don't need the dongle on your laptop or PC just and FYI

I don't have a smartphone. It worked fine just with plugging into computer. I just have an iPad , but thought I needed to plug dongle into computer. Would synching with iPad only have worked?!
