That's great that you found the solution. I'm going to tell my sister about this. She has one leg shorter than the other, and she's having knee problems.

Knee problems?

I've posted about my back problems before (then got a Teeter inversion), but I continued to have knee pain. I walk my dogs 2 hours every day and my knee pain got to the point I seriously thought I had to stop walking them. A few weeks ago I was cleaning out a room and found a shoe "lift" which my chiropractor had given me years ago because he said one leg is shorter than the other. Well, when he gave it to me I kinda blew it off because I was not having any pain. I remember my sister "wobbling" left to right when she walked and noticed I was doing the same thing (I think she actually had a shorter leg also). I put the lift in my right shoe and bingo - no pain when I walk now. I don't feel myself "wobbling" anymore. If you're having knee problems and notice you kind of rock left and right when you walk, it might be worth a try.

With any competent Chiropractor, one of the first things they do is measure the leg lengths of their patient.

Any type of foot imbalance can eventually effect the ankle/Achilles Tendon/Calf muscles/hamstring muscles/knees/lower back/upper back or the neck.

People that Run generally find this out much quicker than the more sedentary among us. These imbalances being corrected have saved a lot of Professional Athlete's careers, and also eliminated pain and joint issues with millions of people.

It is always a good idea for people to check the way the soles of their shoes wear, especially ones used to walk/run or any type or regular use of those shoes.

Don't just treat a leg length discrepancy with any old heel lift. You could be setting yourself up for increased back pain and SI joint dysfunction.

Get an appointment with your friendly neighborhood physical therapist or a chiropractor, get an actual measurement, then get the appropriate height of lift based on the length of the discrepancy.

Many years ago I found that Birkenstock's helped with ankle, knee and back pain as do Earth brand and now Vionic. I'm 63 and after knee xrays following an injury have no appreciable arthritis in my knees. The orthopedic doctor said a good shoe or orthodic can prevent the evential bone on bone rubbing that occurs from the way a person walks due to misallignment. I still wear the occasional great looking shoe but always wear those brands or an orthodic for day to day wear.
