I went for a routine eye exam and the Dr. said I have the beginning of dry eyes. I had no idea. She gave me some drops for it but so far they all have ended up on my upper lids, lower lids, eyelashes, and cheek. Seems no matter what I try, they don;t make it into my eyes.

Does anyone have any good advice? Thanks

I also have dry eyes. I know when mine are worse because they feel like I have sand or dirt in my eyes. DH tilts his head back to put in the drops. I cannot do that. I have to lean toward the mirror so I can see what I'm doing, tilt my head to side & try to drop it in. Sometimes it goes in & sometimes if runs down my face. They do make eye drop helpers. Search eye drop helpers & click on images to see the different ones they make. One of those may help you.

Read the paper that came with the drops. I had a prescription that needed to be put in the "pouch" made by pulling out the lower lid then don't blink for a few seconds. I just put them in my eye. BIG mistake!

Worth your time to read it. It may have instructions.

I was taught to hold my head back and aim directly for the inside corner, keep head back and blink a few times to distribute the drop around the eye.

I use a prescription drug that is no larger than a quarter and I was losing most of it down my face. I figured out how to get it in my eyes without missing. I put my head on the arm of the couch and drop the meds into the corner of my eye closest to my nose. It will naturally run the opposite way once inside the eye. The eye MD taught me that trick. Works for those of us without anyone at our homes to assist us.

I do the say with Refresh for dry out except I use it all day so I just tilt my head back at work and insert into the corner of my eyes. I hope any of these suggestions offered here help you out.

I have dry eyes and have such problems with drops that I rarely use them. It seems my eyes are so dry that the drops don't stick, they just roll off my eyeball. When desperate, I lay down on my back and try the drops.

Mine is a slight variation .... I put a couple drops in the corner of my eye and then lift my top lid and the drops run to the top .... then gently pull the lower lid so the drops run downward. That way, the eye drops cover the whole inner eye ball.

I've been using Restasis or Lotemax for about 8 years. I was taught to tilt my head back and close my eyes. With my fingers I gently open the outer corner of each eye then place a drop in the eye. This way nothing rolls down my cheeks.

Some eyedrops are almost tortuous to apply. My 94 year old Mom has to use eyedrops for glaucoma. They come in a set of several tiny, tiny bottles. The little bottles have a small dropper to deliver drop. It is one of those bendable plastic spigots you pull forward to dispense drop. It is hard! IDK why they use this system Must be a reason, but it is agony for Mom to dispense drop in each eye

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will try them all and see how they work. So far, I have used the method in front of the mirror and pulling out the lower lid. That way I can see exactly what I am doing. getting the drops in the corner of my eye is what was not working for me. Again, thanks for the tips. I am sure it will get easier with practice.
