If you are interested in this topic, you might want to google Gabriel Cousins MD and watch the film he made regarding reversing diabetes....the journey of a few people who visited his place in AZ and followed his protocol. Very enlightening.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "cure." But a person can keep from getting worse by diet, exercise, meds, proper weight, etc. Please don't fall for the "cure" line.

I was diagnosed as "prediabetic". With my internist's full knowledge and support, I stopped eating grain, dairy, all added sugar and all added salt. My blood sugar levels are now normal, with my a1c being at 5.6 or below on my last 4 blood tests. I also take a cinnamon-chromium supplement every day. I have heard this "diabetes cure" heavily adveertised on certain radio stations and unless you are willing to do what I did, I think it is total BUNK. In ADDITION, unless you were working with a doctor who knew your medical condition inside and out, I also think this sort of self treatment xould easily be downright dangerous. I live absolutely sugar free, and only eat berries and green apples and red grapefruit or the very rare Truvia sweetened ice cream or pudding dessert. Diabetes is too dangerous to mess with. Unless you are totally bullheadedly determined, do not mess with this.

When I said "added sugar", I meant the sweetener that is spooned on or shoveled on. Berries and green apples and grapefruit are among the lower sugar fruits, and the benefits of consuming them outweighs the risk. sidsmom I eat nuts and a small amount of olive oil, so I am consuming what are considered healthy fats, and I believe that they work fine for me. All of my blood testing is NOW in the normal range. I wanted to add, this works well FOR ME, and I know I am very lucky. I took Metformin for a while before I cleaned up my eating habits, and mty blood sugar levels didn't get much better than without it. For many years my diet staple was sugar. I've lost 85 pounds. No one should do what I did without being closely connected to expert medical advice.
