Tumeric/curcumin has real difficulty being utilized by our bodies in the capsule form. For that reason I have started using a product by the name of metacurcumin 200 from Rev Genetics. My neuropathy in my feet is gone and my arthritis symptoms in my hands has totally subsided after taking this product for only two weeks.

This powerful yellow spice has been used in ancient Ayurvedic medicine for more than 2,000 years. Emerging evidence shows that curcumin may be all you need to help ensure:

Comfortable, flexible joints

A sharp mind and strong memory

Healthy blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels

A strong heart and cardiovascular system

Protection against free radical damage

Strong, comfortable digestion

Even a more positive, upbeat mood

inflammation is one of the key signs that cancer could be developing in your body. But research shows that curcumin puts the brakes on inflammation before it can gain a foothold. Full article here: http://www.newportnaturalhealth.com/2014/11/curcumin-prevents-cancer/

another huge benefit that cropped up in a second human clinical trial: daily curcumin supplements were found to increase HDL (good) cholesterol and reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides at the same time.

If you know of a prescription drug that can achieve all that, let me know, because I’m not aware of any substance with such remarkable health benefits.

Curcumin does much more than manage blood sugar, though. It’s a proven pain-reliever, outstanding antioxidant, and fights inflammation, one of the key causes of most diseases. more info: http://www.newportnaturalhealth.com/2014/10/control-blood-sugar-with-curcumin/

Turmeric, derived from the plant Curcuma longa, is a gold-colored spice commonly used in the Indian subcontinent, not only for health care but also for the preservation of food and as a yellow dye for textiles. Curcumin, which gives the yellow color to turmeric, was first isolated almost two centuries ago, and its structure as diferuloylmethane was determined in 1910. Since the time of Ayurveda (1900 Bc) numerous therapeutic activities have been assigned to turmeric for a wide variety of diseases and conditions, including those of the skin, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal systems, aches, pains, wounds, sprains, and liver disorders. Extensive research within the last half century has proven that most of these activities, once associated with turmeric, are due to curcumin. Curcumin has been shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer activities and thus has a potential against various malignant diseases, diabetes, allergies, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, and other chronic illnesses. These effects are mediated through the regulation of various transcription factors, growth factors, inflammatory cytokines, protein kinases, and other enzymes. Curcumin exhibits activities similar to recently discovered tumor necrosis factor blockers (e.g., HUMIRA, REMICADE, and ENBREL), a vascular endothelial cell growth factor blocker (e.g., AVASTIN), human epidermal growth factor receptor blockers (e.g., ERBITUX, ERLOTINIB, and GEFTINIB), and a HER2 blocker (e.g., HERCEPTIN). Considering the recent scientific bandwagon that multitargeted therapy is better than monotargeted therapy for most diseases, curcumin can be considered an ideal “Spice for Life.”

Currently available treatments for osteoarthritis (OA) are restricted to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which exhibit numerous side effects and are only temporarily effective. Thus novel, safe and more efficacious anti-inflammatory agents are needed for OA. Naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds, such as curcumin and resveratrol, are potent agents for modulating inflammation

Who's picking up the Glucosamine & Chondroitin TS today?

FYI, if you didn't hear him say it, the daily dose he recommends is now 4 capsules a day. Used to be 5 but he has managed to fit more powder into each capsule so now it's 4 capsules per day.

I am interested. Have you used his Glucosamine & Chondroitin before? I have chronic pain in my joints and take way too much Ibuprofen. What about the Tumeric and Ginger TS? Do I need both in order to get relief? Sorry for all the questions, I just need some advice.

I bought his Glucosamine & Chondroitin TS last year and did so again tonight. But I buy it for preventative reasons so I can't comment on how well it'll do for chronic pain. I take it to give my joints what they need and hopefully keep them in good shape down the road.

My understanding is that the Glucosamine & Chondroitin are for the maintenance and repair of joint tissue while the Turmeric & Ginger soothe the joints. So perhaps both of those specials would do some good for you?

Puritans Pride has a formula that is max dosage with only 2 tablets daily. I am surprised that Lessman does not put MSM in his.

Also, keep in mind this is made from shellfish which is very high in cholesterol, taking this has been shown to raise cholesterol, I just read an article about it. There are also vegetarian formulas, which may be a better option for some.

The glucosamine/chondroitin product at Puritan's Pride is the HCI not the Sulfate form. The Sulfate form is the one that has the positive studies. Also, this formula has magnesium stearate which is used as a lubricant so that the machines filling the capsules don't stick. I like the fact that AL's products don't contain this.

I've used knock-off brands and I've used AL's and I just don't see the same good effects with the knock-offs. I would like a women's multivitamin in individual packs and at least a 90 day supply. I like individual packs of vitamins because I "squirrel" them in different places- I like to keep a few packs in my desk at work, and I put 3 packs in my travel bag for weekend getaways.

On 1/25/2015 !FitChick! said:
I would try his supplements if he'd have a today's special on a women's multivitamin pack that had a good amount of calcium and viatmin E. I would like a women's multivitamin in individual packs and at least a 90 day supply. I like individual packs of vitamins because I "squirrel" them in different places- I like to keep a few packs in my desk at work, and I put 3 packs in my travel bag for weekend getaways.

I used to take his Womens Complete that came in a pack. Since I take so many of his other products I switched to his Essential One multi that you only have to take 1 capsule per day. He does have it as a TS once per year. It should be a TS in July. You can only absorb around 500 mg of calcium at a time so you will not find more then that in his multi's. They make those really small ziplock bags for jewelry that you could put these in to leave some at work, in your purse or when you travel. He also makes a set of 12 empty travel size bottles approx. 3-1/8"H x 1-1/2" diameter each. I use the bottles when I travel & use the small ziplock to put some supplements in my purse so they are easier to get to when we stop to eat until we get where we are going.

I was really only planning to get the Turmeric/Ginger but he talked me into it. I've got lots of joint issues & it might even help.

I wish he would do on air comparisons of similar products to help us choose which might be best for our needs. He has several calcium products, sleep products, etc.

I don't need any of the glucosamine/chondroitin. I'm still on the fence about the Turmeric/Ginger. I have a bottle of the 400 mg Turmeric & an extra bottle. The TS is a good price just wish it was Turmeric 400 mg instead of 200 mg./200 mg. Ginger. Right now I have not been able to login to my acct on HSN for some reason.

I tried ALs product last year and it didn't do much. I talked with my Dr about what might help my arthritis and his recommendation was to find a product that has glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and hyaluronic acid. I did that and that's the ticket.
