I've had mine for years. Costco sells them a few weeks out of the year, I think I saw one there last month. I've never taken a class, but just have it near the TV. I'll do lopsided pushups on it, or lopsided lunges, or stand on the flat side while brushing out my hair.

What I appreciate about Bosu, and the Bodyblade, for that matter, is that they help you activate the little supportive muscles that are left out when using things like Nautilus (does anyone use that any more?) or other gym machines.

I've tripped now and then but caught myself before actually falling. Imagine, could it be that keeping those little muscles in shape has saved me from a damaging fall? Who knows, but I continue to do "whole body" exercise such as the Bosu provides, or the Bodyblade, or carrying unwieldy 50lb sacks of livestock feed whenever I can.

I highly recommend Bosu as part of a home gym. - Bird

Love the BOSU! I've been training w/ this tool for close to 10 yrs....it has always remained challenging. Below is a video with CRAZY moves! My trainer incorporated a majority of these moves within our workouts (not the splits!)! Here's a screenshot of one of my favorites:

Do You BOSU?

I love it too. My first experience with it was when I was in rehab for my knee and I've been a faithful user ever since. I always had balance issues (think it's my center of gravity due to over endowed on top and only 5'2"" - at least that's what I said when my Physical Therapist commented on my balance problems) and working with the BOSU has really given me an effective tool to learn to balance myself. It's also been a Godsend for me when working out on the floor protecting my seriously not padded tailbone and my fragile knee.

I use the commercial size @ the gym. The base is 26"...anything smaller, I wouldn't get the wide stance for squats. Plus...the home model might not weigh as much...for your burpees overhead move...something to consider/check. Though, your pic looks like it's the same size as the blue ones...pink is cute!!

I do wear a brace on my worse knee as I only have a partial ACL. Maintaining good balance is critical as we age. The consequences of poor balance resulting in falls are devastating and can be life threatening.

There is nothing jarring in the use of the BOSU and jarring is what truly aggravates my arthritis, not flexing.

I love using it at the gym and I have terrible knees. Of course, I do not jump on and off it! But as has been mentioned it is great for balance. So critically important as we age and with bad knees even more so.

I have considered buying one for home use, but the less expensive units do not seem to hold up well. And I wonder how hard they would be to inflate without a more advanced air unit.

I LOVE bosu! I've had the gym style unit for 10 or more years, since they first came out. They are wonderful for balance work and the dvds or streaming workouts that you can get for them, but also good as a step sub for extra core work. I also have the Step 360 which is similar but has three circles of air chambers and a flat platform. Anything that works balance like these type of things do is wonderful in so many ways - balance, core, activating those tiny muscles that often don't get worked and the powerhorse muscles that do. Totally recommend
