topic CT Scan....Neck in Wellness

Me again! ok I have to have a CT Scan this week....something came up on my MRI that wasn't clear enough and they want a further study done. I have never had a CT Scan....what is it like compared to a closed in MRI machine??

I am nervous for several reasons....they are going to use that iodine IV stuff/contrast and my Mom had a horrific reaction to that stuff....immediately she got a itchy sensation...her throat closed up...and they ripped it out and started flushing it with something else. She was throwing up and had D for 3days afterward. THey told me I may be fine and not react like her...as it's not a heridatary thing...but still I am nervous. My husband also had a reaction but not the throwing up and D for days afterward....once they put in that antidote or whatever it is he was fine.

Can anyone tell me what this machine is like? does anything on it move....around you? I have motion sickness issues badly along with vertigo....I did tell them all this and what I take and will be taking it before I go. The MRI was not pleasant for me as it interfers with my vision (seeing where I am in the room) it blocks your view and I have a difficult time getting my brain to understanding I am not floating or which was is up and all that.

I nearly had a panic attack in that thing....I will not do a close MRI again.

Thank you for sharing your experience....I find if I know abit more I feel better and calm down. I know it's just a test and the out come is most important....i want it to be fine of course and just shadowing like my internist thinks it was.
